H . R . Giles . The W . M . subsequently appointed and invested his officers . The banquet , to which thc brethren adjourned , was held at the Bridgwater Hotel , and did the highest credit to Bro . J . S . Knight , as caterer . The newly-elected W . M . presided . The usual toasts were honoured .

M . The ceremony was most impressively performed by the retiring W . M ., Bro . W . J . Barrett . The W . M . afterwards invested his Officers .

A banquet followed , admirably served by Bro . Templeton . During the evening the retiring W . M ., Bro . Barrett , was presented with a handsome Past Master ' s jewel , subcribed for by the members as a memento of his most successful year of office . o o o

MINNEHAHA LODGE , No . 2363 . THE regular meeting was held at the Victoria Hotel , Manchester , on Monday , the 22 nd ult ., Bro . W . A . Brabner W . M . As it had been arranged that this night was to be what was termed a " ladies' social , " the work of the Lodge was got through very expeditiously , so as to enable the brethren to meet their partners and friends of the fair sex , whom they escorted to the dinner which had been very admirably provided by the manager , Bro . Thomas Willgress Donald .

This over , the party adjourned to the Masonic room , which had been fitted up to represent a drawing-room , ancl a very pleasant evening was spent . Songs , etc . were indulged in , Bro . WOODGRANGE LODGE , No . 2409 . A MEETING of this Lodge was held at the Princess Alice , Forest Gate , on the 17 th ult . The Lodge was opened by Bro . A . H . Hardwick W . M ., supported by Bros . R . G . Tucker and A . R . Trew Past Masters . Bros . Carter , Henson , and Ellis were raised , and Bros . Ross and Searle passed . Other Masonic business being transacted , the Lodge was closed , but one little pleasant

episode deserves recording . The Secretary announced that a handsome album had just been received from Bro . J . G . Stevens , in which the portraits of the various Masters of the Lodgo might bo placed . After the supper , provided by the host Bro . Homewood , the usual toasts were proposed ancl received in wonted Masonic fashion .

o o o DUKE OF YORK LODGE , No . 2449 . THE Romans held a festival in February each year in honour of the god Terminus , and the members of the above Lodge , had they felt disposed , might with equal propriety havo celebrated

their terminalia at the meeting held at the Palatine Hotel , Manchester , on Thursday , tho 8 th inst . Tho Lodge has just attained its first year of existence , having been attended with a prosperity which is phenomenal . Good luck ' seems to be in tho

ascendant , for upon the evening referred to three additions to its numbers wero registered . The first was a joining member in tho person of Bro . John Henry Maybury , Strangeways Lodge , No . 1219 , the others being initiates , viz ., Messrs . Henry Bryant Rudolph , Reddish , and Harry Eastwood , Levenshulme .

The ceremony of initiating Mr . Rudolph was undertaken by Bro . Bridge Hopkinson P . M ., and that on behalf of Mr . Eastwood by Bro . Wm . T . Schofield W . M . P . P . J . G . D ., they being assisted by Bro . Fred Warburton J . W ., who explained the working tools and rendered the ancient charge .

The election of Officers then took place , and resulted in Bro . William Boden S . W . being chosen as Worshipful Master-elect ; Brother James Andrew P . M . P . S . G . D . Treasurer ; and Bro . Warburton J . W . Charity Representative . Bros . Thos . T .

Hardicker S . D . and Oates Rushton were selected to audit the accounts , and a Committee , consisting of the W . M ., the Past Masters , and Secretary , was appointed to arrange for the forthcoming Installation and Festival of St . John .

At the festive board , Bro . Schofield W . M . was congratulated upon his restoration to health and strength . Besides those already mentioned there were present : —Bros . Simeon Mamelock P . M . ECCENTRIC LODGE , No . 2488 . THERE was a large assemblage of tho members of this new Lodge on the 2 nd inst ., when Bro . J . H . Hawkins , acting I . P . M . presided , ancl was supported by the officers and several visitors , among whom were Bro . John L . Mather P . G . A . D . C , Bro . Brown P . G . Std . Br ., and P . Ms . Harlow , Hobson and Ellis . After the minutes of the last meeting had been read and confirmed , the

ballot was taken and proved unanimous in favour of the following brethren as joining members : Dudley Hardy , of the Old Concord , No . 172 , and Frank H . Hiatt and Murray Carson , both of the Asaph Lodge , No . 1319 . Bros . Thomas Fraser , Frank Parker and L . W . Harris were raised to the sublime degree by Bro . J . H . Hawkins .

Bros . Sidney Jousiffe , W . E . Garstin , John Mann and R . S . King were passed to tho degree of Fellow Craft , thc ceremony being performed by Bro . C . A . Hooper . Messrs . Luclwig Ehrlich , Harry Wodehouse Perkins and Christopher Albert Osborne having been

ballotted for and approved were then admitted and initiated into the mysteries and privileges of the Order by Bro . W . Sargent Lee . The various ceremonies wero admirably worked and elicited the cordial approval of the Brethren .

o o o ST . GEORGE MARK LODGE , No . 383 . AT thc annual meeting , held at thc Freemasons' Hall , Plymouth , Bro . J . E . Weald was installed by thc retiring W . M ., Bro . H . Reynolds . The W . M . invested his officers , after which the brethren ancl visitors partook of supper together .

As a matter of fact it is impossible for slavery to exist under the protecting shadow of the British flag . In thc same manner men

cannot remain bound by the tyrannic shackles of disease if they will place themselves under the healing influence of Holloway's Pills and Ointment . Their success in all parts of the world is now a familiar story , and it is only necessary to say here , there is no known disorder that cannot be speedily relieved or cured by them .
