M . was presented with a P . M . ' s jewel , as a token of appreciation of the zeal and ability with which he had discharged the duties of the chair . Bro . R . D . Kennick was elected as representative on the Committee of Petitions .

M ., and Bro . Richard Robinson P . M . There was a large attendance of visiting brethren . After the Lodge was closed the brethren sat down to an excellent banquet in honour of the festival of St . John .

Owen Parker , of Higham Ferrers , to I . fill the chair of this Lodge was a popular one was evidenced by the gathering of brethren and visitors on the 22 nd ult ., at the Masonic Hall , Wellingborough , on the occasion of his installation to that office . The proceedings throughout were marked by great enthusiasm , and subsequent general congratulation . Lodge was duly opened by . the W . M . Bro J . T . Reid P . G . Supt . of Works , and among those present was Bro . Butler Wilkins

D . P . G . M . P . G . St . B . England . Tho usual business having been transacted , Bro . R . B . Starkey presented Bro . Owen Parker P . P . G . St . Br . for installation as W . M ., and the ceremony and ritual were admirably carried out by Bro . J . Slin P . P . G . R . P . M . The newly elected Worshipful Master then appointed and invested his Officers . Following this , the W . M . said

his first pleasing duty was , on behalf of the members of theLodge , to present Bro . Reid , the retiring W . M ., with a Past Master ' s jewel as a mark of recognition of the admirable manner in which he had carried out the duties of his office and promoted the interest and welfare of the Lodge during the past year .

Bro . Reid thanked the members for their kind recognition of his services , and assured them that although he had vacated the chair he should still take great interest in the Lodge , and he also felt

sure that Bro . Owen Parker would make a worthy successor , and fully sustain the dignity of the office to which he had been elevated . Various propositions were dealt with , and the Lodge was closed in due form .

o o o MERCHANT NAVY LODGE , No . 781 . THE opening meeting of the year was held on the 9 th ult . under quite new auspices . The brethren met at the Town Hall , Limehouse , instead of the Silver Tavern , Burdett-road , where the meetings have so long been held . Bro . W . E , Turriff W . M .

occupied the chair , and was well supported . Lodge being opened , Bro . Shuttleworth was passed . Bro . C . L . Nelson then presented the W . M . with a petition signed by a considerable number of the brethren , asking him to appoint a day of meeting when the

expediency of a removal of tho Lodgo should bo properly discussed . After a little conversation , tho W . M . agreed to call an early meeting . Other Masonic business being disposed of , the brethren adjourned to the London Tavern , whero a banquet was awaiting them . o o o

This is the third time the brethren of St . Edward Lodgo have paid Bro . Clemesha the honour of electing him as thoir Master . After tho ceremony , which was performed by the retiring Master , Bro . Allen P . P . G . J . W ., Bro . Clemesha appointed and invested his Officers .

When business was over the brethren dined together at Bro , Piatt ' s George Hotel . Tho usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were honoured .

o o o TRIUMPH LODGE , No . 1061 . AN emergency meeting was held on the 25 th ult ., at the Market Hotel , Lytham . There was a large attendanceincluding

, the Worshipful Master , Bro . S . Fisher . Mr . John Talbot Clifton , of Lytham Hall , sought to become associated with the Lodge of Triumph , and the W . M . accordingly called the emergency meeting . Mr . Clifton having been accepted , was initiated hy the W . M .

After the ceremony Bro . T . Fair , in proposing the toast of the newly-elected member , expressed a fervent hope that Bro . Clifton would become a true and faithful Mason , in which case there could be no doubt that he would be a truly good man . Bro . Clifton ' s *

grandfather had been a Mason of high degree , and it was Bro . Fair ' s intention to hand over his clothing to the newly-elected member , who , he felt certain , would follow in the footsteps of his grandfather . Bro . Clifton was not present to respond to the toast , having to fulfil another engagement . o o o

HARTINGTON LODGE , No . 1085 . THE annual festival was celebrated on the 17 th inst ., at the Masonic Hall , Derby , the function being numerously attended . Bro . A . Worsnop was installed by his immediate predecessor in office , Bro . S . J . Sanders . Bro . Worsnop appointed and invested his Officers . The annual banquet was subsequently held in the lower hall . HUYSHE LODGE , No . 1099 . AT Stoke , on the 11 th ult ., Bro . W . H . Dillon W . M . presented the Lodge with a frame for the photos of 20 Past Masters . The frame , of a Masonic character , was designed and made by Bro . S . F . Hill ( Hill and Hill , Plymouth ) . The brethren heartily thanked Bro . Dillon for his beautiful present . At the same meeting P . M . Olver was presented with a pair of bronze ornaments in recognition of his services as W . M . during 1893 .

O O O ELMS LODGE , No . 1212 . THE installation banquet was held at the Masonic Club , Princess Square , Plymouth , presided over by the W . M ., Bro . W . Ferguson , who was well supported . The tables were very tastefully laid and decorated with a large number of very choice and beautiful plants , kindly lent for the occasion by a member of the

Lodge , Bro . J . Tomlinson , of Tavistock Road , Stoke , and the dinner served under the direction of Bro . 0 . Harvey , the able manager and caterer of the club , in his best style . Ample justice having been done the repast , on the removal of the cloth the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were honoured .

W ., which took place at the Old Boar ' s Head , Manchester , on Wednesday , the 31 st ult ., attracted the attention of a large number of brethren , no doubt by reason of his popularity both in his own and neighbouring Lodges , and also on account of his position as a representative of one of the Manchester dailies .
