— : o : — CRAFT . LODGE OF UNION , No . 38 . AT tho Assemhiy Rooms , Chichester , on the-1 st inst ., Bro . E . Wellor-Poley was installed as W . M ., and subsequently appointed the assistant officers for tho year . The annual banquet followed , after which tho usual toasts were given . That of the Grand Officers was proposed by Lord Walter Gordon-Lennox , M . P ., and that of the Worshipful Master by Sir Robert Raper .

o o o MOUNT SINAI LODGE , No . 121 . BRO . J . H . Rowe was installed W . M . at the meeting held on the 17 th ult . at Penzance . The retiring Master Bro . B . Shakerley was prevented by ill health from taking part in tho proceedings .

After the business of tho day tho brethren adjourned to tho Western Hotel , whero an excellent banquet was spread by Miss May , thc Manageress . o o o

P ., was installed Worshipful Master on the 1 st inst ., at tho annual meeting held at the Freemasons' Hall , Richmond , Yorks ., tho installation ceremony boing performed by tho Hon . W . T . Orde-Powlett ' P . G . W . of England D . P . G . M . of North and East Yorkshire , who was assisted by the

Rev . J . E . Torbett P . M . P . P . G . C . and S . W . Close P . M . An adjournment was afterwards made to the Turf Hotel , where a splendid banquet was served by Bro . P . Hayward , the host , and the usual Loyal and complimentary toasts were honoured . o o o

ROYAL GLOUCESTER LODGE , No . 130 . A LARGE gathering attended the meeting on the 11 th ult ., when Bro . Bernard Harfield P . M . 1112 P . P . G . St . was installed into the chair of the Lodge , over which his late respected father ,

i 3 ro . -ttoberc Harnelci , presided nan a century ago . The work of Installing Master had been undertaken by the Grand Master of the Province , Bro . W . W . B . Beach , M . P ., this being his second visit to the Gloucester within its Masc nic year , but at the last moment he

was unable to leave London till the afternoon train , being in attendance at a South Western Railway Board meeting , postponed from Wednesday to admit of the directors attending Mrs . Scotter ' s funeral . The ceremony was therefore conducted hy the Deputy Provincial Grand Master Bro . J . E . Le Feuvre , and was shorn of somo of the ritual , the W . M . elect having , as shown above , already passed the chair of tho Shirley Lodge . The Provincial Grand

Master arrived just after the conclusion of tho ceremony , and was received in customary Masonic form . The installing Master was thanked for undertaking at short notice thc installation work , and a cordial vote of thanks was awarded to tho I . P . M ., Bro . Penny , for the efficent manner in which he had fulfilled the duties of the chair during the past year , and a jewel was voted to him from the Lodge funds .

At the banquet , in responding for the Grand Lodge of England , the D . P . G . M . said it was possible that the important appointment of President of the Board of General Purposes , which was about to fall vacant by the retirement of Bro . Fenn , might he oflered to Bro . Lovelancl-Loveland , and he was sure that if this should be the case Hampshire Masons would heartily congratulate one of their number

on receiving such a distinguished honour . The health of the Prov . Grand Master was proposed from the chair and waimly received , and in the course of his reply Bro . Beach expressed his regret that ho could not reach Southampton in time to fulfil his promise to install Bro . Plarfield , for it was always a pleasure to him to perform Masonic work , and it was a gratification to him at all times to visit

the Gloucester Lodge , where he always met so many old friends . He congratulated the brethren on the way in which the Province of Hampshire was coming to the front , and it would be an especial honour to them should one of their number be appointed to so prominent and important a position as that of President of the

Board of General Purposes . He was sure no worthier Mason lived than Bro . Loveland-Love ' and . Replying for Provincial Grand Lodge Officers , the P . G . S . Bro Goble expressed his thanks to the Secretaries of Lodges for the interest they took in their work , and the amount of labour they saved him by the assistance they always accorded him so readily . Several other toasts were honoured .
