Under suoh an energetic directorate the ladies and brethren had an opportunity of indulging in a social and

A dispensation was granted by the M . W . G . M . the Prince of Wales , and the brethren availed themselves of the permission and donned Masonio clothing and jewels ; thus a glittering display was presented , as many

of those present had secured the right to more than one distinction for services rendered to the Craft . Dancing commenced at nine o'clock , when the Hon . Artillery string band , under the direction of Bro . Tampling , played a capital selection of music . Bros . Monflet , Pope , Dnrance , Cox and Drake acted as M . C . ' s . About twelve o ' clock the guests , nearly 150 of whom were present , adjourned to a

sumptuous supper . The tables were beautifully decorated and nothing was wanting to render the meeting a great success . The W . M . Bro Phillips proposed the toast of the Queen and the Craft ; then Bro . White S . W . P . M . 177 had great pleasure in proposing the health of one whom they all respected ; he referred to Brother Phillips , their W . M ., who was also a P . M . of tbe City of Westminster Lodge ;

be bad done his utmost to bring tbis meeting to a successful issue ; to him and to the members who had been associated with him , they were much indebted for having so numerous an assemblage present that evening . He ( Bro . White ) might say no class of individuals knew better how to enjoy themselves than Freemasons , and after their work was finished , they looked after the Charities of their

Order . This was their first Lodge ball , and he hoped it would be the forerunner of many more . The W . M ., in reply , thanked Bro . White for the eloquent manner in which he had spoken of him . His great ambition was to get this Lodge ranked amongst the first class in the Craft , not only as regards its working , but also in its support of the Charities . He trusted the members would assist him in carrying out this object . Bro . Drake , in a few but appropriate remarks ,

responded for the Ladies , and Bro . H . M . Levy for the Visitors . To Bro . Baker great credit is due for the energy he displayed in ministering to the enjoyment of this agreeable meeting . The ladies and brethren then adjourned to the ball room , where dancing was resumed .
