Hilda Chapter Rose Croix . —This Chapter , stationed at York , met on Friday ( All Saints' Day ) , for tho purpose of perfecting two candidates . The M . W . S . Bro . T . Ellis ( Sheffield ) , and other brethren . A ballot was taken for a candidate , and Bros . Augustus Gerald Duncome ( Thirsk ) and Alderman J . Terry ( York ) wero perfected in

the degree , with the usual full ceremonial , after which tho Chapter was closed . Previous to the meeting the brethren dined together at the Queen's Hotel , Bro . H . Churchill providing an excellent repast , and after the conclusion of business a very pleasant evening was spent in the discussion of various Masonic questions .

Egyptian Lodge of Instruction , No . 27 . —At the Hercules Tevern , 119 Leadenhall-street , E . G ., on Thursday , 31 st October . Bros . Grammer W . M ., Chapman S . W ., Norden J . W ., Maidwell S . D ., Holland J . D ., King I . G ., Biddle Acting Sec , Webb Preceptor , Atkins P . M . Treasurer , and other brethren . The ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Benjamin acting as candidate . Bro . Grammer vacated

the chair in favour of Bro . Maidwell , W . M . of tho Egyptian Lodge , who rehearsed the ceremony of installation in a most impressive manner . After which a cordial vote of thanks was proposed , seconded , and carried unanimously to Bro . Maidwell , for the very efficient manner in which he had worked the ceremony of installation . The Lodge was then closed .

Anchor and Hope Lodge , No . 37 . —A meeting was held on Monday , 4 th inst ., at Bolton . Bros . Jas . Brown W . M ., Johnson Mills J . W ., Wm . Slater P . P . S . G . D . the inembers proceeded to tho confirmation of the minutes of last meeting . The annual Circular from the R . M . B . I ., announcing the date of Festival , also that the Prov . G . M . for East Lancashire had consented to act as Chairman of the Festival , was read . Bro . Newton and Bro . Walker consented to act as Stewards for the Lodge , Bro . Brockbank is also on the list as a Steward for St . George ' s Lodge 1723 , Bolton .

Prosperity Lodge of Instruction , No . 65 . —Held at Bro . Maidwell ' s , Hei coles Tavern , Leadenhall-street , 5 th Nov . Bros . King W . M ., Daniel S . W ., Biddle S . D ., Maidwell J . D ., Moss I . G ., Holland , Hill , Richards and Laroon . The minutes of the previous meeting having been confirmed , the ceremony of initiation was

rehearsed by Bro . King . Bro . Richards worked the second degree , and Bro . Biddle the third . The Lodge was closed down in the third and second , and Bro . Daniel was elected W . M . for the ensuing Tuesday . The annual supper will take place on Tnesday , 19 th Nor ., at 7 p . m . Tickets to be had of Bros . Daniel and Maidwell .

Davies FREEMASON ' S CHRONICLE . Tho Lodge waa opened at 6 . 30 in due and ancient form , and the minutes of the last meeting read , fonnd correct and confirmed . After sundry bnsiness of a private natnre had been transacted , the Lodge was closed in harmony and the brethren adjnnrned to banquet , the Worshipful Master entrusting the Chair to W . Bro . Gilbert , who presided in a genial and entertaining

manner . The first toast proposed was the Qneen and the Craft wh ch Bro . Gilbert said required no comment on his part to ensure a hearty reception . By request of the chair , Bro . Hilditch favoured the brethren with a hnmorons song . The second toast—that of H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , the Princess of Wales , and the Royal Familywas most heartily honoured . The third , which was given in a

very happy manner , was that of the Pro Grand Master and the Deputy Grand Master . During the interval Bro . Walton gave a recitation . In the next toast the worshipful brother drew the attention of the brethren to their own Province . As Lord De Tabley was as much beloved in one Lodgo as in another , little was needed to ensure the enthusiastic reception of the toast . Bro . Walton again

kindly favoured the brethren with a recitation , after which W . Bro . Gilbert said : I rise with the greatest possible pleasure to propose a toast which I am sure you will receive with every expression of regard and fraternal feeling , wo are to-nighfc pleased to see among us a brother who is better known to me than to any one present . I had the pleasure of making the acquaintance of Bro .

Davies at the Prov . Grand Chapter at Birkenhead , and afterwards bad the additional pleasnre of meeting him in the town . He is , as most of yon are aware , a thorough and hard working Mason , and the life and soul in this district of a very important Masonic Journal—the moat important to the Craft—the "FREEMASON ' S CHRONICLE . " I have the greatest confidence in stating that he has seen as much of Masonry ns any one among us . He has

visited many Lodges in this Province , and he can tell you from experience that this Province stands second to none . I may state for his information that this little Lodge of ours stands second to none in its good works , and we accord him a hearty welcome among us . The toast was drunk with the utmost cordiality , and Bro . Davies gratefully responded . A few other good recitations , amid social enjoyment , brought a very agreeable evening to a close .

La Tolerance Lodge of Instruction , No . 538—Meet , ing held at the Horse and Groom , Winsley . street , W ., on the 6 th inst . Bros . A . Ginger W . M ., H . Bertram S . W ., T . Cooper J . Iriuta candidate . The next bnsiness of the evening was a notice of motion that had been given at the previous meeting by Bro . C . Davis Treasurer , " That the Lodgo of Instruction meet in future at tho Green Dragon , Maddox-street , W ., instead of the Horse and Groom , Winsley-street , as heretofore . " An amendment was proposed by

Bro . Ferguson , that the Lodge remain at its present place of meeting . A long discussion ensued , when the amendment was lost , and the original proposition carried . The reason for removal is the want of room to accommodate the members , the Lodge having increased to such an extent . Bro . Bertram was elected W . M . for tbe next meeting , and Lodge closed .

Brecknock Lodge , No . 651 . —A meeting was held on Mon . day , 4 th inst ., at the Castle Hotel , Brecon . Bros . Richard Webb W . M ., Thos . Batcher S . W ., H . St . G . Cauldfeld P . M . J . W ., J . A . Whittle Sec , Frank Grundy S . D ., Wm . Webb J . D ., H . 0 . A . Maybery Steward , John Morgnn I . G ., James Jones Tyler . P . M . ' s Bros . H . C . Rich and E . C . Phillips . A Lodge of Emergency was arranged for the purpnse of passing Bro . Alfred Gwynne Vanghnn . Bro . Thomas

Butcher S . W . was unanimously elected W . M . for the ensuing year . Bros . David Evans and James Jones were respectively re-elected Treasurer and Tyler for the same period . On the motion of P . M . ' a Rich and Phillips , it was unanimously agreed to present a jewel to Bro . Secretary Whittle ; also to Bro . Quarter-Master Orlopp , who for many years acted as Tyler , to the satisfaction of the brethren , but who , consequent on bis promotion , has recently resigned the appoint , ment of Tyler , and become a subscribing member to the Lodge .

Eoyal Alfred Lodge of Instruction , No . 780 . — On 1 st Nov ., at the Star and Garter Hotel , Kew-bridge . Present—Bros . Le Grys W . M ., Goss ( I . P . M . ) S . W ., Blasby J . W ., Gunner S . D ., Beckett J . D ., Clarke I . G . ; also Bros . Roe Preceptor , Dorey , Gomm , Talbot , and Skinner . Lodge was regularly opened ; minutes of last meeting read and confirmed . Bro . Skinner offered himself as candidate , and tbe initiation ceremony was rehearsed . Bro . Skinner

'inswered the questions leadincr to second decree . The brethren were called to refreshment . Labour was resumed ; it was decided to present Bro . Roe , at the banquet on 29 h inst ., with a black marble dining room clock , and Bros . Blasby , Beckett , and Gunner were appointed a committee to select and purchase the same . A special

vote of thanks was accorded to Bro . Le Grys for his able working , and Bro . Goss was elected W . M . for next meeting . It was announced by Bros . Roe and Goss ( P M . ' s ) that they hoped to work most of the sections during the winter season , and they invited the co-operation of the brethren . Lodge was closed and adjourned till 8 th Nor ., afc half-past seven p . m .
