Monckton , paid a visit to the Institution at Battersea Eise , on Monday , 27 th ult . After witnessing the calisthenic exercises the civic party returned to London , amid the cheers of the happy and gratified inmates of this popular school .

THB Quarterly Court of Subscribers to this Institution , now in the 111 th year of its existence , was held on Thursday , at Freemasons' Hall , Bro . A . 0 . Spaull Past Grand Standard Bearer presiding . The Brethren declared thirteen vacancies for the election of Girls into the School on 13 th October next , which twenty-seven candidates seek to fill .

TPlHE monthly meeting of the Council was held on Friday , I 24 th ult ., Bro . Bichard Eve in the chair , supported , amongst others , by Bros . Eussell , Glass , Strachan , Tobias , Philippe , Valeriani , Imray , Saunders , Eule , Beale , and McLeod Secretary .

The list of candidates for the October election was closed , there being twenty cases brought forward and twenty-live new cases accepted , besides one for a vacant Bast Lancashire Presentation . One case was rejected as ineligible , and two
