The ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Sperriug candidate .

Lodge was opened iu the second degree , Bro . Gunner volnntered as candidate , and the ceremony of passing was rehearsed . Bro . Blasby answered the nsual questions leading to third degree . Lodge was closed in the second degree . Bro . Monson was unanimously olected W . M . for the next meeting , and appointed his Officers . A cordial vote of thanks was ordered to be entered on the minutes to Brother

Becket for his efficient working , for tho first time iu this Lodge of Instruction . Bro . Becket expressed his gratification , and only regretted that his " private avocations " precluded his attending so frequently as he could wish ; he also testified his appreciation of Bro . Monson's kindness in giving over the chair to him for the evening . Bro . Secretary reported that , in accordance with the recent

vote , the Treasurer had handed him a cheque for five guineas , and that ho had given it over to Bro . Gomra to bo placed ou his list as Steward for the Boys' Institution . Lodge was closed , and tho meeting adjourned till 8 th inst ., usual hour . In our report last week of the Royal Alfred Lodge , we omitted to mention that five guineas was voted on behalf of the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys ; the amount is to be placed on Bro . Gomm ' s list .

Friars Lodge of Instruction , No . 1349 . —Held at Bro . Pavitt ' s , Liverpool Arms , Canning Town , on Tuesday , 30 th March . Bros . P . M . Myers W . M ., Peterken S . W ., Watkins J . W ., Ives I . G ., Worsley Secretary ; also Bros . Pavitt , Smith , Knopp , Brownsom and Wallington P . M . 860 . Lodge opened iu due form and the minutes were read and confirmed . The ceremony of installation was rehearsed

by P . M . Bro . Myers , who installed Bro . Smith W . M . elect 860 into the chair of K . S . ; the working of Bro . Myers was most perfect . The Lodge closed to 1 st degree , when Bro . Peterken was elected W . M . for the ensuing week . We were gratified at seeing Bro . Wallington on a visit to this little Lodge of Instruction ; he received a hearty welcome from those of his old pupils who were present . Now Bro .

Wallington has once paid a visit here , we trust the brethren will often have him in attendance . Bro . Worsley worked the first , second and fourth sections of the lecture . On Tuesday , 5 th April , Bros . Peterken W . M ., Rawe S . W ., Loane J . W ., Myers S . D ., Johnson J . D ., Worsley Secretary , P . M . Musto Preceptor ; P . M . Barnes , Bros . candidate . Bro . Worsley worked the first four sections of the lecture . Bro . Rawe was elected W . M . for the ensuing week . All were pleased to see our friend , Bro . Barnes assisting in working the sections . A cordial vote of thanks to Bro . Peterken was ordered to be recorded on the minutes for the excellent manner in which he performed the ceremony , for the first time . We are sorry to hear that Bro . Smith , a most regular attendant at this Lodge , was absent on account of illness . We wish him a speedy return to health .

Harrison M . W . ; J . Clarke S . W ., J . Purnell J . W . There being no candidate for advancement , the position of the Rite was discussed , and the Festival of Nature celebrated , J . W . Hillman R . 111 . G . M . of C . presiding , after which the members adjourned to the Dol phin Hotel , where the Festival was completed .

vote , the Treasurer had handed him a cheque for five guineas , and that ho had given it over to Bro . Gomra to bo placed ou his list as Steward for the Boys' Institution . In our report last week of the Royal Alfred Lodge , we omitted to mention that five guineas was voted on behalf of the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys ; the amount is to be placed on Bro .
