Doric Lodge of Instruction , No . 933 . —Thw ronoAvned and prosperous Lodge held its usual meoting at Bro . Clayton ' s , the Duke ' s Head , Whitechapel-road , at 8 o'clock on Friday evening , tho 31 st nil . Bro . I . P . Cohen P . M . of the Israel Lodge , occupied the chair . Bros . Francis S . W ., McDonald J . W . and a largo number of brethren being present . Tho ceremony of initiation was

worked in the most impressive manner by the W . M ., and the sections of tho degree by Bro . Webb , assisted by the brethren . Bro . Musto , Secretary rose and called tho attention of the brethren to tho fact of the Lodgo being without a Preceptor in consequence of tho death of tho late lamented Thomas Austin , and that it was necessary for its welfaro that it

should have some one to look up to as an authority , he therefore had much pleasure in proposing that Bro . Cundick should be Preceptor of this Lodgo of Instruction . Bro . Ellis seconded tho motion , and said he hoped Bro . Cundick would accept the office , as he ( Bro . Ellis ) Avas sure , that from the kind and temperate manner in which Bro . Cundick communicated Masonic instruction , they would find him a

fitting successor to tho late Thomas Austiu . Tho motion was unanimously carried with truly Masonic acclamation . Bro . Cundick , in returning thanks , expressed his deep regret at the loss of Bro . Austin , and said that ho considered himself flattered by tho honour conferred upon him ; he would endeavour to tho best of his ability to fill tho late brother ' s place with tho samo amount of caro and

attention as ho had done . Ho always Felt it his duty to impart Masonic knowledge to those Avho wero in search of tho same , and hoped the G . A . O . T . U . would spare them for many years to benefit by each other ' s teachings . Bro . Francis was elected as W . M . for the ensuing Aveek , and the Lodge was closed in duo form and adjourned until Friday , tho 7 th inst .

Bro . Edward Barlow P . M . Kent Lodge , who had been balloted for at a previous Convocation , and Bro . Alfred W . Wells , J . D . Lodge 299 , Dartford , for whom tho ballot was successfully taken at this meeting , Avere then exalted into Royal Arch Masonry , tho M . E . Z . and his Principals performing their work in a most impressive manner . The Chapter Avas then closed , and tho members repaired to Comp .

Stanbury ' s new BanquettingHall , whore a capital repast Avas served . At its conclusion , the M . E . Z . briefly introduced the toasts . To Comp . J . Newton was entrusted that of the health of the M . E . Z ., which he offered to tho assembled guests iu most felicitous term * , complimenting Comp . Martin ou the excellent way in which he had conducted

the proceedings of the day . This toast was gracefully replied to , and the M . E . Z . next gave the health of the Visitors , Comps . Hovve and C . Atkins acknowledging tbo compliment . Tho toast of tho P . Z . ' s followed , and full honour Avas paid this august body ; theu the M . E . Z . summoned the Janitor , Avho gave tho final toast .

Masters Bros . IT . Jackson Prov . G . A . D . C ., Jonos , Honlding . Tho minutes of tho previous meeting wero read and declared correct , after which the W . M . worked the Lodge to the second , and pas-ed Bro . Atherton to the F . C . degree . Thero was some discussion with refer , ence to changing tho night of mooting , but from all appearance , the Lodge cannot do better than meet on the fourth Friday . The

Hamer Lodge shonld certainly take a foremost rank with the Lodges of Liverpool ; should bo as popular , strong iu numbers and talent , and progressive and harmonions as any Lodge in existence . This conclusion is adduced from an acquaintance with the Masonic virtues of W . Bro . Sammons , the presont W . M ., whose zeal for the welfare of the Lodge , and lovo for tho Craft , wonld preclude every idea of his

supporting or even tolerating any thing contrary to the principles of tho glorious Order he has learnt to lovo , and which in him has so worthy a representative . It was regretted that so fevv members were present on such an important occasion as the election of W . Master for tho onsuing year . After tho ballot Avas taken , tho W . M . declared that Bro . Thos . Largo S . W . was elected W . Master of the Hamer Lodgo for

the next year . Tfc was proposed , seconded and carried , that Bro . R . II . Evans P . M . be tho Treasurer of tho Lodgo for tho samo term . It was proposed by Bro . J . McCarthy , and socondod by Bro . Jones , and supported by Bro . Large , that a sum of JB 10 10 s be devoted from tho funds of tho Lodge for tho purchase of a Past Master ' s jewel , curried unanimously . Thero being no futhor business

before the Lodge , tho brethren proceeded to refreshment . On tho W . M . rising to proposo tho first toast , he said , the toast he had the honour of giving was always drunk most loyally by Englishmen in overy clime , and especially among Freemasons , but to-day boing the birthday of onr gracious Qucon , tho toast would be received with more than ordinary enthusiasm . Tho brethren responded to tho

remarks of the W . M . in a right loyal manner , all singing God save the Queen . After the toast of if . R . II . the Princo of Wales , and onr Masonic rulers , supreme and subordinate , had been given and heartily drunk , Bro . Evans roso to proposo tho health of tho Master ; in doing so ho eulogised the virtnes of tho W . M ., virtues which wero so justly esteemed among good Masons . He referred to the devotion of

Bro . Sammons for the Craft , and the good he had done for tho Lodgo , and the Lodgo of Instruction . In the namo of the Lodgo he tendered him his sincero thanks for his invaluable services , and expressod the hope that Bro . Sammons might long be spared to come among them . The toast was drunk with the greatest enthusiasm , and musical honours . Bro . Irwin favoured tho brethren with a song . Tho W . M .

ou rising to respond said : —Brethren , I can only return you my sincere thanks for tho very complimentary manner in which my health has been proposed , and the cordial way in which it has been received , on my retiring from the chair . When you did mo tha honour of electing me your W . M ., I resolved to endeavour to follow in tho footsteps of those who had occupied tho chair so satisfactorily .

By your expressions to-night , I am glad to know that I havo subceeded in doing so . It was at one time stated by some , without proper consideration , that tho Past Masters oF this Lodge would drop off ; such a statement has proved to bo an unfounded rumour . No Lodgo has ever been better supported by its Past Musters ; I havo received overy aid during mv term of office from tho P . M . ' s , who

from their experience are so capable of rendering valuable assistance in tho conduct of tho Lodge . I cannot sit down without giving you the toast of the Past Masters of tho Lodge , and I am sure I need not add a word of commendation to ensure its hearty reception . Bro . Largo kindly responded to tho call for a song . Bro . Jones , as the Senior P . M ., availed himself of the pleasure of responding to tho toast just given

by the worthy W . M . He expressed his couvictiou that the P . M . ' s had done thoir duty well , and ho expressed himself as ready to render the same aid in the future . He felt sure ho was uttering the sentiments of his Brother Past Masters that such was their feeling . He had no hesitation in believing that tho W . M . elect would follow in the footsteps of his worthy predecessor , and he augured

prosperity for tho Lodge , lie thanked the W . M . for proposing the toast , and the brethren for warmly receiving tho same . Bros . Evans and Jackson followed , to tho same purport . Bro . Leason gave the next toast , and proposed the health of the . W . M . elect . No one rejoiced more than he did at the accession of Bro . Large to the exalted position of W . M . ; he assured all present that his efforts should not fag to render every assistance to further the interests of the Lodgo in

future as he had done m the past . The W . M . elect responded , thanking tho brethren for their mark of esteem iu electing him to the chair , aud expressed the hope that the Lodge during his term of Office might be as prosperous as in the preceding year . The toasts of the Visitors and the Officers of the Lodge Avere given and appropriately replied to , after Avhich tho Tyler was summoned , and the brethren dispersed .

Marquess of Ripon Lodge of Instruction , No . 1489 . —At the Pembury Tavern , Amhurst-road , Hackney , on Monday , 3 rd June , at 7 . 30 . Present—Bros . Grist W . M ., McDowall S . W ., Jacob J . W ., Aspinall S . D ., Glaskin J . D ., Slaiter I . G . ; also Bro 3 . Blunt , E . Bishop , Fieldwick , Stanton , Lockett , & c . After preliminary business , the ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Slaiter candidate ; the ceremony of passing was rehearsed , Bro . Glaskin

candidate ; Bro . Fieldwick answered the questions leading to the third degree , and Bro . Grist carefully worked the ceremony , giving the Traditional History aud Lecture . Bro . McDowall was elected W . M . for the next two Lodge meetings . It was fnrtlier resolved that the meeting be adjourned for two weeks , next Monday being Bank holiday . All Masonio business being OA'er , the Lodge was closed until Monday , 17 th June .

remarks of the W . M . in a right loyal manner , all singing God save the Queen . After the toast of if . R . II . the Princo of Wales , and onr Masonic rulers , supreme and subordinate , had been given and heartily drunk , Bro . Evans roso to proposo tho health of tho Master ; in doing so ho eulogised the virtnes of tho W . M ., virtues which wero so justly esteemed among good Masons . He referred to the devotion of

Bro . Sammons for the Craft , and the good he had done for tho Lodgo , and the Lodgo of Instruction . In the namo of the Lodgo he tendered him his sincero thanks for his invaluable services , and expressod the hope that Bro . Sammons might long be spared to come among them . The toast was drunk with the greatest enthusiasm , and musical honours . Bro . Irwin favoured tho brethren with a song . Tho W . M .

ou rising to respond said : —Brethren , I can only return you my sincere thanks for tho very complimentary manner in which my health has been proposed , and the cordial way in which it has been received , on my retiring from the chair . When you did mo tha honour of electing me your W . M ., I resolved to endeavour to follow in tho footsteps of those who had occupied tho chair so satisfactorily .

By your expressions to-night , I am glad to know that I havo subceeded in doing so . It was at one time stated by some , without proper consideration , that tho Past Masters oF this Lodge would drop off ; such a statement has proved to bo an unfounded rumour . No Lodgo has ever been better supported by its Past Musters ; I havo received overy aid during mv term of office from tho P . M . ' s , who

from their experience are so capable of rendering valuable assistance in tho conduct of tho Lodge . I cannot sit down without giving you the toast of the Past Masters of tho Lodge , and I am sure I need not add a word of commendation to ensure its hearty reception . Bro . Largo kindly responded to tho call for a song . Bro . Jones , as the Senior P . M ., availed himself of the pleasure of responding to tho toast just given

by the worthy W . M . He expressed his couvictiou that the P . M . ' s had done thoir duty well , and ho expressed himself as ready to render the same aid in the future . He felt sure ho was uttering the sentiments of his Brother Past Masters that such was their feeling . He had no hesitation in believing that tho W . M . elect would follow in the footsteps of his worthy predecessor , and he augured

prosperity for tho Lodge , lie thanked the W . M . for proposing the toast , and the brethren for warmly receiving tho same . Bros . Evans and Jackson followed , to tho same purport . Bro . Leason gave the next toast , and proposed the health of the . W . M . elect . No one rejoiced more than he did at the accession of Bro . Large to the exalted position of W . M . ; he assured all present that his efforts should not fag to render every assistance to further the interests of the Lodgo in

future as he had done m the past . The W . M . elect responded , thanking tho brethren for their mark of esteem iu electing him to the chair , aud expressed the hope that the Lodge during his term of Office might be as prosperous as in the preceding year . The toasts of the Visitors and the Officers of the Lodge Avere given and appropriately replied to , after Avhich tho Tyler was summoned , and the brethren dispersed .

Marquess of Ripon Lodge of Instruction , No . 1489 . —At the Pembury Tavern , Amhurst-road , Hackney , on Monday , 3 rd June , at 7 . 30 . Present—Bros . Grist W . M ., McDowall S . W ., Jacob J . W ., Aspinall S . D ., Glaskin J . D ., Slaiter I . G . ; also Bro 3 . Blunt , E . Bishop , Fieldwick , Stanton , Lockett , & c . After preliminary business , the ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Slaiter candidate ; the ceremony of passing was rehearsed , Bro . Glaskin

candidate ; Bro . Fieldwick answered the questions leading to the third degree , and Bro . Grist carefully worked the ceremony , giving the Traditional History aud Lecture . Bro . McDowall was elected W . M . for the next two Lodge meetings . It was fnrtlier resolved that the meeting be adjourned for two weeks , next Monday being Bank holiday . All Masonio business being OA'er , the Lodge was closed until Monday , 17 th June .
