REPORTS OF MEETINGS . INSTRUCTION .

ST . JOHN LODGE , No . 167 . THE weekly gathering on Thursday , 29 th ult ., at the Court House , Harlesden , was taken as the annual meeting of the Lodge , and Bro . P . J . Priest W . M . 1657 Secretary read the Bye-laws in open Lodge , in accordance with the 19 th law .

It was moved , seconded and carried unanimously that a very hearty vote of thanks he recorded on the minutes , to Bro . W . Hellier P . M ., for his services as Preceptor ; to Bro . C . Penny P . M ., for fulfilling the duties of Treasurer ; and to Bro . F . J . Priest , for the work he had done as Seoretary during the past year .

It was proposed by Bro . W . C . Tebbit , seconded by Bro . W . B . Neville P . M ., and unanimously agreed to , that Bro . Hillier be re-elected as Preceptor , while Bros . Penny and Priest were re-elected as Treasurer and Secretary respectively . Bro . Preceptor Hillier in graceful terms referred to the services of Bro . Isaac Cohen , as Secretary of the Dance Committee , and the grand success ¦ which crowned the Ladies night , and presented him -with a silver cigar case

as a token of the Brethren ' s appreciation . This was suitably acknowledged by Bro . Isaac Cohen . ON Thursday , 6 th inst ., the chair was occupied by Bro . F . J . Ortner , supported by Bros . M . Moss S . W ., W . B . Neville P . M . J . W ., W . B . Hillier P . M . Preceptor , F . J . Priest W . M . 1657 Secretary , G . Chapman Treasurer , W . Handover S .. D ., G . Pettit J . D ., A . Holmes I . G ., W . C . Tebbit , Larter P . M ., Moore , Peradon , Buck , Wynman , Rose , Williams P . M ., Cox P . M ., Parker , Atkinson , and Brown , with Bro . C . E . Batchelor as a visitor .

Bro . Larter having offered himself to be passed to the 2 nd degree answered the usual questions , and the ceremony was rehearsed . The Lodge was called off and on . The W . M . gave the explanation of the tracing Board of the degree . Bro . C . E . Batchelor was elected a member , and Bro . Moss chosen as W . M . for next meeting .

The election of Stewards resulted in the choice of Bros . Rose , Neville P . M ., Moore , and Hussey P . M ., while Bros . Parker , Peradon , and Batchelor were elected Auditors .

WESTBOURNE LODGE , No . 733 . AT Bro . Barnes ' s , Oliver Arms . Westbourne Terrace North , Harrow Road , on Tuesday of last week , Bro . T . W . Mogford W . M ., R . J . Eogers P . M . Treas . S . W ., C . E . Lilly J . W ., H . Dehane P . M . Preceptor , G . D . Mogford P . M . Sec , H . H . Bagnall S . D ., H . Crooks J . D ., C . Halston I . G ., Crow , Thomas , Wynman , Barnes , and others . Visitor : —Bro . F . S . Benjamin 2119 and 931 ( English Constitution ) New Zealand .

After a few formalities the Lodge was advanced to the second degree , and Bro . Thomas having answered the usual questions was entrusted and the ceremony of raising was rehearsed . The Lodge was called off and on . Resuming , the W . M . rehearsed the ceremony of initiation , Bro . Crow candidate , after which the W . M . gave the ancient charge . A vote of thanks was recorded on the minutes for Brother Barnes ' s kindness in handing his votes for the Old People to the W . M .

The popular Treasurer Bro . Robert John Rogers P . M . will preside at next meeting , and the Brethren may expect an exceptional treat . Brethren visitors will receive a hearty welcome .

The ceremony of installation was rehearsed , Bro . H . Dehane acting as D . C ., and presenting Bro . C . Brown W . M . 733 as Master-elect . By request Bro . Wortham invested the Officers . Bro . Rogers resumed the chair and rehearsed the ceremony of passing , Bro . White acting as candidate . The Lodge was resumed to the 1 st degree and Bro White was elected a member . Bro . Lilly was elected W . M . for next Tuesday .

HYDE PARK LODGE , No . 1425 . BEIN G Officers' night an exceptionally large attendance assembled at Bro . E . Stevens ' s , the Prince of Wales Hotel , Eastbourne Terrace , on Monday , when there were present : —Bro . B . Cox W . M . elect 1425 as W . M .,

Bro . H . C . Martin was elected a member , and it was unanimously agreed that a letter of deep regret and sincere condolence should be sent to the relatives of tho late Bro . W . Craig P . M . 1425 , a member of the Hyde Park Lodge of Instruction since 1874 . It was also proposed that a vote of thanks

should be put on the minutes , for the kindness shown by Bro . H . Campbell in acting as Preceptor . It was also proposed that a hearty word of thanks be recorded on the minutes for the excellent manner in which the W . M . had performed his duties as Worshipful Master for the first time in this Lodge of Instruction .

ZETLAND CHAPTER , No . 236 . i TJHE members held their annual installation meeting on Wednesday , 28 th JL ult ., at the Masonic Hall , Duncombe Place , York , when there was a numerous attendance of Companions , presided over by Comp . C . M . Forbes M . E . Z ., supported by his Principals and Officers . The Chapter having been opened in the usual manner , the ceremony of

installation of Principals was proceeded with , Comp . M . Rooke P . Z . installing Comp . the Rev . C . E . L . Wright , M . A ., as Z . The other Officers were installed , and two exaltations having taken place , the Auditors' report was received and adopted . Some other business having been transacted , the Chapter was closed , and the Companions dined together .

MARK MASONRY ,

BOSCAWEN LODGE , No . 101 . THE members met at St . Day , on Monday , 26 th ult ., and unanimously elected Bro . J . Collins as W . M . for the coming year , and re-elected Bro . W . A . Bennett P . P . G . I . Wks . Treasurer , and Bro . John Paull Tyler . The Boscawen Lodge of Ark Mariners was afterwards held , when Bro . Percy Chirgwin was unanimously elected W . C . N ., Bro . W . A . Bennett re-elected Treasurer , and Bro . John Paull Warden .

The installation festival takes place on 28 th June , a joint Committee of both degrees being appointed to make the arrangements .

JOHN O'GAUNT LODGE , No . 172 . ON Wednesday , 28 th ult ., at the annual meeting held at Gainsborough , Bro . Baines P . M . P . Prov . J . G . W . was installed as W . M . for the ensuing year .

LEOPOLD LODGE , No . 235 . AN interesting gathering was held in the Masonic Hall , Reading , on Monday , 26 th ult ., when there were present the Deputy Provincial Grand Master of Berks and Oxon Bro . John Tomkins , the Provincial Grand Secretary Bro . W . Ravenscroft P . M ., and other visitors . The Worshipful

Master Bro . W . G . Millar having opened the Lodge , the Deputy P . G . M . was saluted with due honours , and acknowledged the compliment , after which Bro . Edwin Ifould of the Downshire Lodge , Wokingham ; was balloted for , and elected . He was thereupon introduced , and the ceremony of advancement was gone through .

The Installation of Bro . Reed S . W . as Worshipful Master for the ensuing year was impressively performed by the W . M . A handsome Past Master's jewel was presented to Bro . Millar , in recognition of the satisfactory manner in which he had performed the duties of Worshipful Master .

At the close of the Lodge business the Brethren adjourned to the Great Western Hotel , where a banquet was served . The usual Mark toasts were honoured .

WALTER HILL & Co . have again prepared for the Great Northern Railway Company a handy list of Farmhouse and Country Lodgings to be obtained in towns and villages in Bedfordshire , Cambridgeshire , Derbyshire , Hertfordshire , Huntingdonshire , Leicestershire ,

The book contains several views of places of interest on the Great Northern and North Eastern Railways , and may be obtained free of charge on application to the Superintendent of the Line , Great Northern Railway , King's Cross Station , London , or at any of the Company ' s Stations or Town Offices .
