CHOUGH LODGE , No . 2264 . THB annual election meeting of this Lodge took place on Thursday , 30 th ult ., at the City Terminus Hotel , Cannon Street . Bro . H . Saqui W . M . presided , being supported by ' Bros . W . Vincent Jul ! I . P . M ., 3 . A . Smith acting S . W ., -A . Haynes J . W ., T . Edwards P . M . Treas . ; 3 . W . Dewsnap P . M . Sec , C . Frohlick S . D ., H . Lotery J . D ., L . Schneider acting I . G .,. 3 . Turle Lee Org ., T . Bowler P . M . Tyler ; Past Masters W . B . Marcus , Walter Martin P . A . G . P ., and others ; Bros . 0 . Hendrey , . 3 . Morris , R . ' Davis , 3 . W . Stuttle , H . R . Saxelby , H . 3 . Lea , W . Low , M . Bushell , H . Miller , M . Davis , E . Williams , H . 3 . Brown , and others .

The Visitors included Bros . W . Sykes P . A . D . C . Middx ., H . Frances P . P . G . D . C , Percy Gray S . W . 1897 , W . S . Phillips 1 T 66 , R . Forward 1693 , H . Broadway 1320 , Sidney W . Fells 193 , 3 . Wynman , & c . The Lodge being duly formed was opened with solemn prayer , and theminutes of the last regular meeting were read and confirmed . The Lodge was opened in the second degree , and Bro . Ralph Davis being present to be raised answered the questions in a faultless manner . He was entrusted , and the Lodge being advanced to the third degree he was raised , and took his seat amongst the members as a Blaster Mason .

The W . M . resumed the Lodge to the first degree , and Bro . H . R . Saxelby answered the questions leading to the second , this being done in a satisfactory manner , after which he was entrusted , and then regularly passed to the degree of Fellow Craft . -. ¦ ¦ The , W . M . again resumed the Lodge to the first degree , and the election of Worshipful Master , Treasurer and Tyler took place for the ensuing twelve months , with the result that Bro . A . Haynes J . W . was unanimously chosen as the ruler of the Lodge , while Bro . Edwards Treasurer and Bro . Bowler Tyler were unanimously re-elected to their Offices .

Bro . Haynes thanked the Brethren for their grand and unanimous vote ; The responsibility he had to accept was great , but at the same time , he ^ -was fully conscious of what , was required of him to fulfil the duties of •Worshipful Master of the Chough Lodge . He hoped fco have fche opportunity of saying a few more words later on . .. a Bro . Edwards P . M ., in a few but appreciative words , acknowledged the compliment paid him . ¦ ¦ ¦ ' -. ' .- ¦ - '

Bros . Moses Davis , H . Lotery , and M . Bushell were elected as Auditors of the Lodge . ' ,-. ' It was proposed that in recognition of the excellent working of the W . M . during his year of office , a Past Master ' s jewel of the value of ten guineas be provided from the Lodge funds , to be presented to him on his retirement from office . This was unanimously agreed to and Bro . Saqui expressed his acknowledgment .

Bro . Edwards proposed that the sum of ten guineas be added to the list of the W . M ., who is working as a Steward on behalf of the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls . This was also carried unanimously . Bro . Edwards then , in most sympathetic terms , informed the W . M . and Brethren of the death of Bro . E . Piggott , a Past Master of the Lodge , and proposed that a letter of sincere condolence be sent to his bereaved wife and family .

Several other communications having been gone through the Lodge was closed , bufc not before the W . M . received well earned hearty good wishes from the Visitors . The Brethren adjourned to the banqueting room , where an excellent repast was provided . The cloth being removed , the W . M . informed the Brethren that

important engagements prevented his staying much longer , but before leaving he had the great pleasure , nay the honour , of giving the toast of Her Most Gracious Majesty the Queen . This having been honoured was followed b y the toast of H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , and that of the Grand Officers present and past , the name of Bro . Walter Martin P . A . G . P . being coupled with the latter .

Bro . Martin thanked the W . M ., and referred to the close of another year in the history of the Lodge . He congratulated the W . M . on his excellent working , which had been a credit to himself , and an honour to the Lodge . The W . M . had expressed his wish to leave them early that evening , but certainly after such excellent performances as he had given them during his year of office they could not let the opportunity pass without hearing him once more as Master of their Lodge .

Bro . Jull I . P . M . thereupon rose . He said he had wished to give a long account of Bro . Saqui's qualifications , aud make extended reference to his perfect working during his year of office , but as they all knew the W . M . wanted to leave early , and he must curtail his remarks . He folt that in the matter of perfect working Bro . Saqui had beaten the record of the Chough

Lodge . His performances in the chair had been all that could be desired , and he felt they would all agree that their W . M . had done more than was expected he would accomplish . He wished him health , happiness and prosperity in the future , and called upon the Brethren to endorse his sentiments by a hearty reception of the toast , giving the W . M . that welcome he so richly deserved .

The toast was most heartily received , as was the W . M . when he rose to respond . It was the last time he would have the opportunity and ple ' asure of responding as Worshipful Master , and he therefore most cordially thanked them . ¦ He really did not think that he deserved all the praise that had been lavished upon him , yet he felt particularly glad the Lodge had not lest ground during the year it had been undor his rule . As to his working of the different ceremonies , they were all better judges than himself , but as long as he had given satisfaction he assured them that he % vas content—in fact ,

the happiest man in existence . He had little more to add on that occasion , except to wish the Chough Lodge continued prosperity . There was one matter , however . As the Brethren were aware , he proposed to represent the Lodge as a Steward at the Anniversary Festival of the Girls School , and he hoped the Brethren would support him as liberally as such a deserving cause merited—and as liberally as had been done by the Chough members on previous occasions . The W . M . next gave the toast of the W . M-elect Bro . Haynes , whom he
