inclement -weather , there was a large attendance of Brethren , representative of the majority of city Lodges . Bro . Henry Peers P . P . G . P . was the Installing Master , and conducted the ceremony with due solemnity and in a most impressive manner , installing Bro . Albert Beeston in the Master ' s chair .
After the ceremony , six candidates were proposed for initiation , and the company adjourned to the banqueting room , where a capital dinner was served . The usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were given .
ST . JOHN LODGE , No . 1736 . THE annual festival of St . John -was celebrated at the St . John ' s Masonic Hall , Blackwall , Halifax , when Bro . Alfred E . Dalzell was installed Worshipful Master by Bro . J . H . Bolton P . M . P . P . G . S . W . A vote of condolence was passed to Bro . J . W . Daniels J . D ., on his bereavement .
The annual banquet was then partaken of , visitors from all the sister Lodges in Halifax , and numerous other Lodges in the Province , being present .
ROYAL CLARENCE LODGE , No . 1823 . THE anniversary meeting was held at the Masonic Hall , Clare , on Tuesday , 4 th inst ., when Bro . Griggs was installed as Worshipful Master for the ensuing year , Bro . Syer ably performing the ceremony .
The banquet followed at the Half Moon Hotel , where , under the presidency of the W . M ., the customary Loyal and Masonic toasts received due honour , and a pleasant evening was passed , enlivened with song and recitation .
MINNEHAHA MINSTREL LODGE , No . 2363 . THE regular meeting was hold at the Victoria Hotel , Manchester , on Tuesday , 28 th ult ., Bro . Edwyn A . Smith W . M . Successful ballots were taken for Mr . Maurice Julius Langdon , Chemical Merchant , Manchester , and Bro . George Nesbit Ramsay Owen , late of Scarisbrick Lodge , No . 2295 , the latter as a joining member .
The initiation of Mr . Langdon was in the capable hands of the W . M ., who afterwards raised Bro . William Cowley Grundy to the sublime degree of M . M . The working tools of the first degree were presented and explained by Bro . Sam Luke J . W ., who also rendered the ancient charge . The tools of

MASONIC TREAT TO OLD PEOPLE . IN accordance with their annual custom , the members of St . Kew Lodge , No . 1222 , entertained 350 old people to a substantial meat tea at the Victoria Hotel , Weston-super-Mare , on New Year ' s Eve , the wants of the guests being attended to by several ladies . Subsequently the old folk were entertained with a musical programme
, and during the interval tobacco , ale , and teetotal drinks were provided . At the close , hot punch was distributed , and the gathering proved one of the happiest yet held under similar auspices . Selections of music were supplied by the Grosvenor Quintet during the tea , and at the close the Brethren and friends adjourned to the Masonic Hall , where refreshments and a musical programme were enjoyed .
London Pavilion . —At Christmas time the music halls are usually depleted of the " Stars" by the demands of the theatres producing pantomimes , and we rind tho favourites scattered all over the kingdom . But the void thus caused allords a golden opportunity to the provincial artistes to make an appearance in London , and hence it is that so many unknown names are now appearing on the metropolitan programmes . Glenister , the energetic manager of this popular place of amusement , has managed to secure a large number of old friends , together with some novelties , and a good proportion of the best provincial talent . In the first category we have Miss Ada Lundberg , Harry Atkinson , Leo Stormont , Miss Fanny Leslie , " The White-eyed Kaffir , " Charles Godfrey , Alec Hurley , and Miss Marie Collins . Among the novelties are Don Everest ' s performing
monkeys , on the trapeze ; Charles Mildare , an accomplished whistler ; the Rixfords , exceedingly clever acrobats ; and a capital sketch entitled " Between the Turns , " finely played by Mr . Mark Melford ' s company . Among the new arrivals are Miss Kittee Rayburn , and Miss Lily Langtry (!) serio comics and dancers ; the Sisters Vivian , duettists ; and Mr . Reuben Hill , descriptive vocalist , all of whom meet with a cordial reception .
