A SPECIAL Grand Lodgo , summoned by command of the Earl of Lathom Pro Grand Master for the express purpose of resolving upon addresses of congratulation to the Queen and the Prince of Wales on the birth of the Boyal Prince , was held yesterday at

Freemasons' Hall , London . The Earl of Lathom presided , and was supported by the Earl of Mount-Edgcumbe Deputy Grand Master , Bro . W . W . B . Beach , M . P ., as Past Grand Master , the Earl of Euston , T . E . Halsey ,

M . P ., and several other Provincial Grand Masters . Sir Erancis Beilby Alston Past Senior Grand Warden , who was appointed to that office as far back as 1850 , acted

as Senior Grand Warden , and the Eight Hon . A . Akers-Douglas , M . P ., as Junior Grand Warden . After the formal opening of Grand Lodge ;

The Earl of Lathom , in moving the address said : Brethren—I have summoned this Special Grand Lodge , as you have heard , for the purpose of resolving upon addresses of congratulation on the auspicious birth of the

Eoyal Prince , son of their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of York , grandson of His Eoyal Highness the Prince of Wales and of Her Royal Highness the

Princess of Wales , and the great-grandson of Her Most Gracious Majesty the Queen . I should like to remind you that this is the first time in the history not only of

our country , but I believe also of any other kingdom or dynasty of Europe , that a direct descendant of the fourth generation has been born to the grandparent and that during the life of the great-grandparent , and who we all rejoice to think is still alive . It is therefore a most unique occasion , and I feel that the addresses of

congratulation will be voted by acclamation , for I know that the hearts of Masons , wherever the British flag flies , will have trobbed with a feeling of joy and thankfulness when

they heard of the birth of the hope of the kingdom . Everyone also will rejoice at the great pleasure the event must have given to the whole of the Royal Eamily , and especially to Her Majestv the Queen , and also to tho

Grand Master and the youthful Princess of Wales , who reigns iu all our hearts , aud whose griefs we trust will be
