THE 43 rd Annual meeting of this society was held on Thursday , 5 th inst ., at the Offices , 29 and 30 Southampton Buildings , Chancery Lano . The report adopted states that the receipts during the year which ended 31 st March last reached £ 10 , 014 , 003 , making a total from the commencement of the Society of more than One hundred and seventy three millions ( £ 173 , 811 , 217 ) .
Tho deposits received were £ 9 , 102 , 698 , and the Subscriptions £ 218 , 366 . The gross profits amounted to £ 220 , 833 . The Surplus Funds have augmented by £ 176 , 148 , and now stand at £ 5 , 903 , 479 , of which £ 1 , 732 , 248 , is invested in Consols and other Securities guaranteed by the British Government , and the Cash in hands of the Bankers is £ 449 , 814 .
A further sum of £ 25 , 000 has been added to the Permanent Guarantee Fund , thus bringing up the amount to £ 175 , 000 , and the balanco £ 155 , 439 , making together £ 330 , 489 , in excess of the Liabilities . The whole amount being invested in Consols . The Subscriptions and deposits withdrawable on demand amount to £ 6 , 053 , 681 .
Tho 14 th Triennial Bonus on Investing Shares has been allotted , aud tho amount placed to the credit of all shares in existence at the close of the 43 rd year is £ 52 , 237 . The Surplus Funds ( which are invested in convertible Securities ) are sufficient to pay tho Depositors 111 J percent , on the amount of their Deposits .
The new accounts opened during the year were 11 , 096 , and there aro altogether 69 , 206 Shareholders and Depositors on the Books , and the number of shares in existence is 54 , 392 . Since its establishment , the Society has returned to tho
Shareholders and Depositors more than Ono hundred and forty millions ( £ 144 . 460 , 220 ) the whole amount having been repaid upon demand . The amount advanced to Borrowers has been £ 2 , 536 , 343 , and the amount of Interest and Bonus paid to Investors and Depositors is nearly two and a half millions sterling , the exact figures being £ 2 . 458 . 987 .

WEEKLY EXCURSIONS TO NORTH WALES .
IpOR many years past the Great Western Railway Company ' have run Excursions each week during the Summer months between London and Weymouth , Exeter , Plymouth , Penzance and other stations in the West of England ; and with the view of increasing the facilities for visiting North Wales , the Company announce that on every Saturday during July , August and
September—commencing on Saturday , 7 th July , an Express Excursion train will leave Paddington at 8 * 10 a . m . for Shrewsbury , Oswestry , Borth , Aberystwyth , Bala , Barmouth , Harlech , Criccieth , Rhyl , Colwyn Bay , Llandudno , Conway , Bettws-y-coed , Bangor , Carnarvon , Llanberis ( for Snowdon ) and many other favourite
holiday resorts . The tickets will be available for return on the following Monday , Monday week , or Monday fortnight , and the facilities afforded will no doubt be appreciated and largely patronised . Cheap trains will be run to London from North Wales every Monday , commencing on 9 th July , returning on tho following Saturday or Saturday week .
