REPORTS OE MEETINGS .

PROVINCIAL . FIDELITY LODGE , No . 555 . rilHE anniversary meeting was held at the Crown Hotel , JL Framlingham , on the 20 lh ult ., when Bro . C . S . Kidall was installed Worshipful Master for the ensuing year . The Installation was performed by Bro . J . B . Fraser . Bro . G . Abbot acted as D . of Cers . At the conclusion of the ceremony the Worshipful Master appointed and invested his Officers .

The Installation Banquet followed , Bro . Cocks providing an excellent menu . Bro . Vernon , in submitting the toast of tho evening , the Worshipful Master , remarked that he had known Bro . Kidall from his boyhood in Masonry ; he was present at his initiation , and he

had seen him rise on the ladder of Masonry to the proud position he held at the present moment . Since the time Bro . Kidall was initiated he had not missed more than two nights at the Lodge . If all Brethren would be as attentive to their Masonic duties as Bro . Kidall had been , Lodge Fidelity would be in a much more healthy and prosperous state .

The Worshipful Master , responding , thanked tho Brethren for the hearty way in which they had received the toast , and for their kindly good wishes towards him in assuming tho responsibility which he then held , and which was by no means a light one . He looked upon it as a laudable and legitimate ambition of every Mason to gain that office . During his Masonic career he had seen that

chair well and worthily occupied , and he felt that in receiving the gavel he must look to it that it lost none of its lustre through his unworthiness , and that it would be his duly by all proper means to increase the number of the members of the Lodge , and if possible to enhance its influence . He concluded by proposing the health of the

Installing Master . He had seen Installation ceremonies in other Lodges and other Provinces , but he must say that he had never seen work done so feelingly and so thoroughly as it had been performed by Bro . Fraser , who seemed to be so deeply imbued with the spirit of the words he uttered that they came with added force . Long might he live to come amongst them .

Bro . Fraser , in reply , observed that this was not the first , or the second , but eigthteenth or nineteenth occasion upon which he had performed the ceremony . Bro . Tempest proposed the Charities , responded to by Bro . Drake ; and Bro . Martin the Visitors , responded to by Bros . A . W . Cobbold , W . P . Smart , and Geo . Abbott . o o o

In the absence of Bro . Hy . Wilson W . M . Bro . Bros . Capt . Lingard , Walter H . Vaughan , and John Rostron . Bro . Wm . A . Vaughan very humourously submitted the toast of the W . M ., coupling with it the name of Bro . Abbott ( acting W . M . ) , to which the latter responded in remarks which were mainly of an exegetical character . He paid a very high tribute to the

worth of their absent Officer , who had taken a brief respite from active professional duties , saying that he was sure-and this assumption was founded upon his own experience in visiting—that there was no Lodge in the Province which possessed a more estimable and efficient W . LODGE OF TRUTH , No . 1458 . AS reverted to in our report of the regular meeting held at the Wheat Sheaf , High Street , Manchester , in the beginning of last month , the ceremonies which awaited performance were so numerous that it became necessary to hold an emergency meeting for the purpose of reducing their number , which accordingly took place on Saturday last .

In the first instance , Mr . Jas . Harold Sandiford , who had already been balloted for , was initiated by Bro . Hamlet L . Burgess W . M ., who was assisted by Bros . E . M . Shepherd S . W ., and W . H . Worsley J . W ., the former presenting and explaining the Working Tools , and the latter delivering the Charge .

Then followed the passing of Bro . C . V . Bretherton , this ceremony being performed by Bro . T . H . Hall P . M . Secretary , assisted by Bro . Shepherd , who presented and explained tho Working Tools of the degree .

To Bro . Buckley Carr P . M . was reserved the privilege of raising Bro . Edward Jackson to the sublime degree , thus putting a finish to a triad of ceremonials , which , although performed under a heat of tropical power , were nevertheless well done in every detail .

These proceedings were followed by a dinner , provided in that very excellent manner for which the name of Bto . Tom Wood , the host , has become proverbial . The Lodge now stands adjourned until 1 st September , but the Brethren will have an opportunity of meeting each other at the

annual picnic , which will take place on Saturday next , the 14 th inst . The place selected is Windermere . We have had the privilege of receiving a programme of the arrangements , which arc admirable , and only the restraining influence of Jupiter Pluvius is necessary to insure a day of delightful pleasure .

Besides those enumerated , there were present at the Lodge : — Bros . Alfred Hebden P . M . P . P . G . D . D . C , C . Pollitt Cooper S . D ., Leopold Hirsch J . D ., Harry Bishop Organist , A . B .
