NOTICES OF MEETINGS .
LODGE OF PROSPERITY , No . 65 . THE first meeting of this Lodge since the installation of Bro . George Schadler as Worshipful Master was held on Thursday evening , at the Gnildhall Tavern , Gresham-street , where there was a very respectable muster for an " off night . " The W . M . was snp . ported by Bros . Charles J . Eich S . W ., J . H . Hawkins J . W ., J . H . Goodwin P . M . Treasurer , G . T . Brown P . M . Secretary , H . W . Gregory S . D ., W . Walker J . D ., R . Dyson I . G ., J . Roberts I . P . M ., C . E . Perry
P . M ., E . S . Cornwall P . M ., C . Daniel P . M ., W . Chicken P . M ., B . Banks Tyler , and many other brethren . Amongst the Visitors were Bros . W . Kerr 144 , G . Sherbonrne 1694 , and F . Searl 1107 . Lodge was opened goon after five o ' clock with the custom-try formalities , and having been advanced , Bro . Alfred Cheney was raised to the sublime degree , tho ceremony being performed by the Worahipfnl
Master in a manner which for a " first attempt" wns highly credit , able , and elicited many expressions of approbation . Resuming in fche first degree , the ballot was opened for Mr . John Charles Stone , of Edmonton , who hnd beeu proposed by Bto . Cornwall P . M ., and seconded by Bro . C . Daniel P . M ., and also for Mr . George Hopkins . In each instance the voting was unanimously in favourand Mr .
, Stone being in attendance was duly initiated into the mysteries and privileges of the Order , the ceremony being admirably worked by the Worshipful Master , assisted by his Officers . It was announced that the summer banquet of the Ledge would be held on Tnesday , the 10 th July , at the Oatlands Park Hotel , Walton-on-Thames , and the request was mado that the brethren should intimate their intention
of being present or otherwise before tbe 3 rd July , as the Committee would make their final arrangements by the replies received to that date . The hope was expressed that the excursion would be well attended , and that tbe result might be as satisfactory as in previous years . At the conclusion of business the brethreu dined together , when the toast list was opened by the W . M . with " Loyalty
to the Throne and Fidelity to the Craft , " a sentiment which was enthusiastically endorsed by all present . Tbe I . P . M . then discharged what he considered to be a pleasant task , namely , that of proposing the health of tho W . M ., and in doing so ho spoke of tho highly creditable manner in which Bro . Schadler had acquitted himself in the various offices he had held in the Lodgeand the ability whioh he

Schadler npon being snr . rounded on this occasion by so many Past Masters , a circumstance "which was rather remarkable on an " off night , " and it must be
especiall y gratifying to the Wovsbipfcl Mastor on the-first occasion ot meeting after his installation . The W . yet 'to his satisfaction . Ho shonld liko thorn to put him further to the test , by giving him plenty of work in order to keep him out of mischief , and that ho might show what he could do . Ho was happy to announce that theLidgeof Prosperity hai nofc suffered iu any way under his rulo , for although ho had so little timo to make up his list for tho Bovs' School , ho was enabled to take up subscriptions to
the amount of gllO , whioh waa far beyond what he thought ho should havo been ablo to do . Ho was groatly obliged to fcho brethren for their co-oper ^ fcion , and ho hoped they would rally round him afc the summer banquet , so thafc they might have a thoroughly enjoyable day . He then proposed tho health of fche Initiate , a task which afforded him additional pleasure from the faofc of this being the first
time he had-had the opportunity of doing so since his accession to office . He was sure , from tha attention Bro . Stone had paid to the ceremony , he would duly appreciate tho value of Freemasonry , and wonld no doubt provo to be a worthy brother amongst them . Bro . Stone , who appeared to be agreeably surprised at tho reception given to the toast , thanked the brethren for the hononr they had done him
that evening . He knew but little of Masonry as yet , but that little he would act up to , and promised faithfully to keep to the obligations he had taken . If his life was spared , he hoped , with fche assistance ho should receive , to become a worthy Mason . The Worshipful Master then extended a cordial welcome to the Visitors , for whom Bros . Kerr and Sherbonrne , of Chelsea , suitably responded , the latter
thanking their excellent Secretary espooially for enabling him to participate in the hospitalities of the Lodge , and expressing the hope that Bro . Brown would be able to establish an off-ihoofc of itho Lodge at the honse he had just taken at Chelsea . If there was any truth in fche word Prosperity , they saw ifc in the way this Lodge had progressed , and he was sure if a branch of ifc were planted at Chelsea ,
it would be certain to thrive and grow in equal measure . Iu reply to the toasfc of the Past Masters , tho whole of the " veterans " present spoke seriatim , all expressing their unabated interest in the welfare of the Lodge . Bro . Daniel P . M . mentioned that tbe Chapter in connection with the Lodge of Prosperity nvat at that house , and a good and comely crew assembled , and worked mosfc unitedly together .
He advised all who had not yet joined the Chapter to do so as soon as they conveniently conld , as the fee was nominal , aud the pleasure immense . The health of the Treasnrer and Secretary came next , and Bro 3 . Goodwin and Brown suitably responded . The latter observed that he was glad to bear testimony that the Lodge was in a flourishing condition ; that nfchfc he had taken more money than on
any previous off-night . He bad got in two or three large sums , which he did nofc expect to get , from members in arrear . Referring to fche Masonic Charities' Association in connection wifch the Lodge , the terra of which wonld now soon expire , he was pleased to say that within the four years of its existence they had been able to send up no less than 580 guineas to the Masonic Charities ns a result of the brethren
subscribing the nominal sum of one shilling per week each . It was one of the most pleasing duties to be Secretary of that Association , and he hoped another would be started as soon as the present one expired , which would be in about four months' time . One of their Past Masters ( Bro . Chicken ) had started one at his house , and he hoped to receive a goodly number of
names . The amount required from members was very small , but the result was large as timo went ou . He little dreamt that in so short a period they would be ablo to forward so large an amount on behalf of the Charities ; it only showed what power and weight it gave the Lodge in the event of a death , or a poor child being proposed as a candidate for one of tho Institutions connected with the Craffc . If
they calculated the number of votes this Association had given to the Lodge they must be highly gratified and pleased . The health of the Officers of the Lodge was next given from the ohair , with complimentary remarks in respect of each , and fche toasfc was acknowledged by the Senior Warden , the official list being closed with the Tyler's
toast . Dnring the evening some excellent songs were given by the brethren and visitors , a couple of excellent pieces being rendered by Bro . Sherbonrne ; these elicited much genuine applause . The proceedings throughout were of an exceedingly happy and harmonious character .
New Concord Lodge of Instruction , No . 813 . —The reanlar meeting of the above Lodge was held on Wednesday last , at the Jolly Farmers' Tavern , Southgate-road , Bro . Western in the chair , supported by Bros . Smith S . W ., Chubb J . W ., Powell acting Preceptor , Perl Secretary , Ferrar S . D ., Allsopp J . D ., Lone I . G ., also Bros . Gribbell , Ockelford , Gadsby and others . The usual
preliminaries having been observed in opening the Lodge , the Worshipful Master proceeded to work the initiation ceremony , Brother Gadsby acting as candidate . This brother afterwards proved himself an efficient Fellow Craft , and was entrusted . The Lodge was opened iti tbe second degree and the ceremony
of passing rehearsed , Bro . Gadsby acting as candidate . The Lodge was here resumed to the first degree . Bro . Smith was elected to fill the chair afc fche next meeting . The summer banquet in connection with this Lodge of Instruction will take place on Thursday , 26 th July , at the Clarence Hotel , Teddington , nnder the presidency of Brother P . M . Cusworth Preceptor .
