GOLDSMITH was initiated in the Chislehurst Lodge , No . 1531 , shortly aftor its consecration in 1875 , and remained a subscribing momber till 1881 , when ho joined the Gallery Lodge , No . 1923 . In this latter Lodge ho served all the offices up to that of W . M . It was while- holding this office , and threo days aftor tho election of his successor , that he died , on the 15 th November 1887 . lie waa a Life Governor of tho Boys' Sohool , and a Subscriber to all tho Masonio Charities , and was , at all times , a hard worker in Masonry , lie was for many years , and at the timo of his death , a member of the Reporting Staff of the Press Association , and in that capacity was well know to all Journalists in the United Kingdom .- Thu under-mentioned Brethren strongly recommend the case of his son , tho above-named candidate : — Bro . addition to a unmoor nf distinguished M-isoi . a from a distanuf , attended a special service at St . George ' s Cuuiuh . It waa ou tho 31 t ! t of August 17 . 90 that tho warrant of tho Lodgo w ; is issued , so that Snnday was tho exact date of its 100 th anniversary . Since then somo eleven or twelve other Lodges have been established in tho Province , and tho way in which the brethren attached to them

mustered evinced a very general desire to do hononr to tho repre-S' - 'iitativea of the parent Lodge , and to celebrate the occasion with all due ceremony . One notable absentee , however , was the Provincial Grand Master , iho K . W . Bro . the Ili ^ lir , Hon . Earl Ferrers , who was at tho lust moment , prevented from attending , to the regret of the ! a' » e number who assembled . Tho brethren mot at tlio Masonic Hall , Halford Street , at 10 ' 30 , and at

eleven o clock started lor tho church iu procession , the ( Jlhrers wearing iho bidges of their office , and tho rank and file tho ordinary insignia . The Provincial Grand Officers wore the Provincml Grand clothing , with jewels , and the members of St . John ' s Lodge had each a special badge struck for tho occasion , the design being a twinted serpent , with the letter C in tho centre , and on tlie

border of blue opal tho word * , "St . John ' s Lodge , 17 U 0 . " Black morning dress with white gloves was the order , aud in consequence of tho death of Earl Carnarvon M . W . Pro Grand Master , the brethren also wore mourning according to their rank . Tho morning waa beautifully fine , and a large number of spectators turned out to witness the procession , in which tho glittering jewels and badges made a very brilliant display . Emerging from tho hall the way was

led by the brethren of the Lodge of tho Golden Fleace , tho youngest in tne Province . Tho members not iu ofl ' ue camo first , two aud two , the Officers and Past Masters of tho Lodge following according to their rank , and the W . M . at the rear . Next camo the other Lodges ia the order of their foundation , tho same regulations with respect to position being i . hservod , and after them came past and present Provincial Grand Officers , the visiting brethren , the Chaplains

John ' s Lodge had each a special badge struck for tho occasion , the design being a twinted serpent , with the letter C in tho centre , and on tlie

border of blue opal tho word * , "St . John ' s Lodge , 17 U 0 . " Black morning dress with white gloves was the order , aud in consequence of tho death of Earl Carnarvon M . W . Pro Grand Master , the brethren also wore mourning according to their rank . Tho morning waa beautifully fine , and a large number of spectators turned out to witness the procession , in which tho glittering jewels and badges made a very brilliant display . led by the brethren of the Lodge of tho Golden Fleace , tho youngest in tne Province .
