wmen occasion there was a large attendance of fche Companions belonging to the several Royal Arch Chapters in tho Province . In tho unavoidable absence of •& arl Amherst , the Grand Superintendent , who was

detained on tho continent , tho Provincial Grand Chapter was presided over by Comp . J . S . Eastes , assisted b y Comp . the Rev . T . Bobinson , M . A . After the transaction of the business of the Provincial Grand Chapter , the following vote of condolence with Comp . T . S . Warne , the Grand S . E . of the Province , was unanimously adopted : —

" The Companions assembled at the annnal festival notico with extreme regret the absence of M . E . Comp . Warne , the P . G . S . E ., and beg to express their sincere condolence on tho domestic bereavement under which be is •offering . May the Most High give him strength to bear his loss with fortitude , and may the sympathy of hia Companions comfort him . "

Among the business transacted was the voting of forty guineas each to the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys and the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls . Boar Hotel , and under tho presidency of Comp . Gowers , au evening of toast and song was very pleasantly spent . Comp . Sir W . N . Abdy , iu response to the toast of bis health , spoke of the deep interest he had conceived for Masonry , iu the study of whioh it was his intention to go plodding on .
