Lodge opened in third degree , and Bros . Absalom and Blanchard were entrusted with the sublime degree of M . M . Lodge resumed

to the first degree , Bros . J . P . Jennings and G . J . Burrows answered the usual questions , and were advanced to the degree of F . C The Charity Jewel , which waa unanimously voted by the Lodge at the last nueting , was now presented to Bro . Johnson by the W . M ., on behalf of the brethren . After the Lodge waa closed the evening was spent in harmony , to whioh Bros . Bussey , Spraggs , Thornton , H . Boorer , and Burrows contributed capital songs , being accompanied at the piano by Bro . Percy Jaokman , the Organist .

THE anniversary of the consecration of thia Lodge was celebrated on Wedneaday , the 20 th ult ., the opportunity being taken to combine with it the annual banquet , postponed from the installation night iu consequence of the lamented death of Prince Albert Victor , K . G ., & o . After the opening of the Lodge , the Secretary read a letter from Bro . Tracy Provincial Grand Secretary , announcing the

acceptance of the invitation given by the Lodge at Felixstowe in the following communication from the Provincial Graud Master , " I sball be very pleased to hold the Provincial Grand Lodge at Clare

next year , a notification which waa heartily welcomed . At the banquet the Worshipful Master waa supported by Bro . the Deputy Provincial Grand Master , tho Immediate Paab Master , and a largo proportion of the Officers and Membera of tho Lodge .

fpHE annual pio ^ nio iu connection with this Lodge took place on ¦ X Thursday , tho 21 st ult . Giaburu , iu the picturesque neighbourhood of Ribblosdale , was the place selected , and a goodly number of Craftsmen with their lady friends turned up . Tlie journey was made by saloon coaches , aud on arrival luncheon waa served at the Kibblesdalo Arms , at eleven o ' clock . A stroll was afterwards made

in Gisburn Park and Grounds , aud later a drive to Bolton for Bolton Hall and Gardens and Sawley Abbey was much enjoyed . After tea , partaken of at Gisburn , a successful photographic group of the party was taken by Mr . J . Wrigley , and tracks were mado for homo . The outing was most thoroughly enjoyed by all who went . One incident

of the day should not be overlooked . During tho drive to Bolton the carriages had to be loft for a time , so that Bolton Hall could be viewed . The pedestrian journey necessitated tho crossing of the river Ribble , aud at a narrow aud shallow part of the stream , to save

a walk of two inilea to tho plank bridgo , the cavaliers waded through with their fairer friends in thoir anna . The heroic conduct of tbe ladies under tha circumstances waa worthy of every commendation .

LIVERPOOL MASONIC HALL

A NUMEROUSLY attended meeting of the members of tbe Liver . pool Masonio Hall Committee waa held on the 22 nd ult ., at headquarters in Hope Street , Liverpool , the chair being taken by Bro . J . Beesley . The committee unanimously granted permission for a conversazione to be held in the hall at a convenient date , with the view of raising money for the purpose of improving the internal

arrangements in several material respects . The improved sanitary condition of the building , ifc was stated , waa now being carried oat with greafc efficiency , and ifc ia hoped that before winter the Masonio Hall will be numbered amongst the healthiest and most attractive structures iu Liverpool .

An Evening With The Grand Master Of Canada.

AN EVENING WITH THE GRAND MASTER OF CANADA .

A LECTURE waa delivered on fche 12 th May , iu the Freemasons ' HaU , Manitoba , by Bro . John Ross Robertson , Grand Master of Canada . A large number of the Craft assembled , filling the hall , and the lecture exceeded expectations , being full of Masonio information and filled with witty auecdotea and allusions that though occupying over two hours the audience was not wearied , and the vote of thanks tendered the lecturer waa so -manifestly sincere and enthusiastic aa

to be a real compliment to the lecturer . Bro . Robertson dwelt upon fche origin and history of Freemasonry , and in this part of his subject he sifted the evidence and preaented the varioua records . Turning to more modern Masonry , the history of Masonry in England aud Canada waa dealt with , and a mass of facts presented so interspersed with humorous anecdotes and quaint

records of old Lodges as to make a really dry record a very interesting relation . After the lecture a number of the brethren assembled afc the Manitoba Hotel , where a banquet had been prepared iu honour of the Grand Master . Bro . Bell Grand Master of Manitoba presided , and after the removal of the cloth toasts were proposed , the first being

the Queen and the Craft , whioh waa duly honoured , Bro . Rigg leading in the National Anthem . This was followed by the toasfc of the evening , the Grand Lodge of Canada , coupled with the name of Bro . J . Rosa Robertson , who responded iu a lengthy speeeb . He recalled hia previous viaita to Manitoba in 1870 and 1885 , in both of whioh periods the province

waa in a state of disturbance , and created much amusement by hia description of his experiences in theso times . Turning to more serions subjects he dwelt upon the state of Masonry , and in this oonneotion offered suggestions that excited no less attention and were no less impressive that tbey were interspersed with flashes of humour . The nuiversal comment was that Grand Master Robertson's visit is the

most pleasing event that has taken place in connection with Masonry iu Manitoba for many years . Bro . Robertson informed his audience this visit was the last of 340 visits that ho has mado iu connection with Masonry during his two years' term of office , and ho professed his satisfaction with the cordiality of his reception hero . The other toasts proposed were Craft Masonry , responded to by

Bro . Goggin P . D . D . G . M . in his happy and appropriate mnnner ; Capitular Masonry , which waa eloquently responded to by Bro . Thomas Robinson ; Templar Masonry , whioh was assigned to Bro . F . F . Westbrook ; the Auoioufc Scottish Rite , acknowledged by Bro . William Grant W . M ., and several other Masonio toasts , duly responded to , finished , ut a late hour , a very pleasant gathering . —Manitoba Free Press .

The St . Alphoga ' a Lotlgu , Solihull , on Tuesday , tho 19 th ult ., arranged an excursion to Tewkesbury , aud brethren belonging to otbor Lodges iu tho Province aud friouda wero guests on tba occasion . The party took train to Worcester , and from thonoo weub down the Severn on a steamer to Tewkesbury . Tho Abbey aud other places of iutoruab wore visited , aud dinuor was partaken of at tho Swan Hotel . Birmingham was reached ou the return journey at hulf-puat tr-.
