THE general half-yearly meeting of the Board of Governors was held at the School House , Balls ' Bridge , Dublin , on Tuesday , 2 nd instant . The result of the ballot for the election of seven pupils was announced

The arrangements for the fete ( this day ) at tbe Masonic Female Orphan School aro in active progress . The programme , illustrated with a view of the bnilding , has been published , and promises a most agreeable series of entertainments . At their four o ' clock concert , besides instrnmental selections , the pnpils will sing Handel ' s chorns ,

" O Lovely Peace , Smart ' s part-song , "The Water Nymphs , " and two other choral pieces . Haydn ' s well-known "Toy Symphony , " never so pleasingly rendered as by a band of children , and Farmer ' s amnsing arrangoment of Nursery Rhymes as a choral quadrille , will appropriately close this part of the programme , to be followed afc

half-past four by the calisthenics and school drill . At five o ' clock the concert , which some of our most distinguished artists have so kindly promised , to assure tho success of the Orphan ' s Annual Festival , will commence . Mr . Mullen pays a graceful compliment to one of the best friends of tho Institution by sinking Riobard J . Moneton ' s delightful song , " Awakening ; " Mrs . Harto , who never fails to show her lasting interest in the School , which is proud to remember her as a pupil , will join Messrs . Beaumont and Oldham in Bishop ' s trio , " Maideu

Fair , and will also sing " Waiting . " Mr . Oldham and Mr . Beaumont will each give a solo , and tho concert will end with J . O'Rorke ' s arrangemont of " No , not more welcome , " as a quartette , to be rendered by Mr . and Miss Mullen , Mr . Oldham , and Mr . Beaumont . At six o ' clock the distribution of prizes to the pupils of both Schools

will take place , introduced by the usual procession aud Masonic salute , and tho girls will afterwards repeat their picturesque "school drill . " The performances will closo with a pleasant selection of

A T the Oswestry Borough Police Court , on Monday , 2 nd inst ., i ~ X before E . Shaw and T . P . Parry , Esqs ., Ovine Portisina , a Frenchman , was charged by P . C . Calcott with being drunk and disorderly , in Bailey-street , on Saturday night . The constable stated that the defendant was creating a great disturbance , shouting iu French , and when he ( the defendant ) was placed in the lock-up ho

began saying his prayers . In his defence , tho defendant said , " Mo fifty years of age to-day . Me never before magistrate bef < re , and me never in lock-np before . The programme , illustrated with a view of the bnilding , has been published , and promises a most agreeable series of entertainments . At their four o ' clock concert , besides instrnmental selections , the pnpils will sing Handel ' s chorns ,

" O Lovely Peace , Smart ' s part-song , "The Water Nymphs , " and two other choral pieces . Haydn ' s well-known "Toy Symphony , " never so pleasingly rendered as by a band of children , and Farmer ' s amnsing arrangoment of Nursery Rhymes as a choral quadrille , will appropriately close this part of the programme , to be followed afc

Fair , and will also sing " Waiting . " Mr . Oldham and Mr . Beaumont will each give a solo , and tho concert will end with J . O'Rorke ' s arrangemont of " No , not more welcome , " as a quartette , to be rendered by Mr . and Miss Mullen , Mr . Oldham , and Mr . Beaumont . At six o ' clock the distribution of prizes to the pupils of both Schools

will take place , introduced by the usual procession aud Masonic salute , and tho girls will afterwards repeat their picturesque "school drill . " The performances will closo with a pleasant selection of

A T the Oswestry Borough Police Court , on Monday , 2 nd inst ., i ~ X before E . Shaw and T . P . Parry , Esqs ., Ovine Portisina , a Frenchman , was charged by P . C . Calcott with being drunk and disorderly , in Bailey-street , on Saturday night . The constable stated that the defendant was creating a great disturbance , shouting iu French , and when he ( the defendant ) was placed in the lock-up ho

began saying his prayers . In his defence , tho defendant said , " Mo fifty years of age to-day . Me never before magistrate bef < re , and me never in lock-np before . Me come hero Satnrday , and me meet gentlemen , who said dey was Freemasons , and dat dey see me in Paris . Me bad £ 5 Satnrday , but me gave de gentlemen champagne
