Reports Of Meetings.

Several Brethren were elected as joining members , and the W . M . had much pleasure in proposing two gentlemen for initiation at the next meeting . After hearty good wishes from the visitors the Lodge was closed and the Brethren aljourned to the banqueting room , where an excellent dinner waprovided , one of those for which the proprietors , Messrs . Blanchard , are so highly renowned .

The first toast the W . M . had much pleasure to propose was that of Her Most Gracious Majesty the Queen , which was given in a most Loyal manner and received with musical honours . The next was that of H . R . H . the Prince of . Wales Grand Master , which toast was also heartily proposed and duly honoured .

The I . P . M . then rose . He said he was proud to bo in the position to propose the health of the W . M . By the excellent way in which he had invested his Officers he was sure the W . M . would distinguish himself during his year of office , and would not require much assistance from him or any other Past Master .

The W . M ., who was received with quite au ovation , said he most sincerely thanked tho Brethren for the hearty manner tbey had received the toast . He had had much pleasure in being initiated five years ago , and had always tried to do his duties in Freemasonry . He felt he had succeeded , seeing the honour ho had received that evening , in being presented with the collar of Worshipful Master of the Kilburn Lodge . When his time came to leave the chair to the next Master he hoped to hand him over the Warrant as unpolluted as he received it that evening . Again he thanked the Brethren

one and all . The W . M . now had much pleasure in proposing the health of tho I . P . M . He said they were initiated together , and were received in the Lodge on the proposition of Bro . Turner . Since that time they had worked together , and he never had a friend and Brother like him . It was now a most happy moment for him , as he had to present his friend and predecessor in the ohair of the Lodge with the Past Master's jewel voted by the Brethren , and which had been well earned . The jewel bore the following inscription : —

Presented to BEO . THOMAS E . FOBSTEB , by the Kilburn Lodge , No . 1608 , as a mark of esteem and recognition of his valuable services as W . M . 1896-1897 .

Replying , the Immediate Past Master said he thanked the Brethren most heartily for the kind manner in which they had received the toast . He assured them it was most gratifying to him to be in so honourable a position as that he then occupied . Whatever he could do for the welfare of the Lodge he should be happy to carry out . He " also most sincerely thanked the members of the Lodge for the handsome jewel they had presented him with that evening , and promised them that so long as the Great Architect of the Universe gave him health and strength he should hope to wear it in their presence .

The toast of the Masonic Charities was next given by Bro . Brooks P . M . Secretary , who remarked that the cause of charity was never neglected at the Kilburn Lodge , where they never passed a year without showing their sympathy towards their poorer Brethren or their dependents . He was happy to say the Lodge had given £ 2 , 500 in twenty years , or an average of £ 125 a year , a sum every member might well be proud of . The Worshipful

Master would represent the Lodge this year as a Steward on behalf of the Boys School , and they must all hope his listen the occasion of the Festival would be well supported . They must really do the best in their power to help those who were in need . In conclusion he said he had much pleasure in proposing the toast of prosperity to the Masonic Charities , coupling with it the name of Past Master Stephens , who was widely known as a most zealous supporter of the Masonic Charity Funds .

Bro . James Stephens , in his reply , said he was most delighted to be associated with the toast of the Masonic Charities . He gave a brief outline of the working of the different Funds , and concluded with a forcible appeal to the Brethren to do what lay in their power on behalf of the Institutions . The W . M . next submitted the toast of the Past Masters , whom he characterised as a good-hearted band , always willing to give any assistance that lay in their power .

Bro . Brooks P . M ., replying , said he felt highly gratified at the remarks of the W . M ., and thanked him for the able manner in which he had submitted the toast of the Past Masters . He was sorry to see so many of the old Brethren had left , but was particularly grateful that , thanks to the Great Architect , he was still amongst them—the only one of the founders of the Lodge yet remaining . He felt the Lodge might congratulate itself on having

such a Master as the one now in the chair , who , he was sure , would give the greatest satisfaction ; indeed , by the manner in which the new Master had invested his Officers he felt positive that he would become an honour to the Lodge . As Preceptor of the Kilburn Lodge of Instruction he felt particularly p leased to see young Masons in the position of the W . M ., whose working he was indeed pleased with and exceedingly proud of .

Bro . H . Kiallmark P . M . also responded , thanking the company for the way in which the toast of the Past Masters had been honoured , and the Worshipful Master for coupling his name with it . Addressing trie Master he said the honourable reputation of the Kilburn Lodge was in his hands , and he felt most happy in being able to say it could not be in better ones . He was sure the present ruler would follow in the footsteps of his predecessors in the chair , and with the firm assistance of his Officers would be able to ensure the continued success of the Lodge .

Bros . Fletcher , Wood , and other Past Masters likewise responded in brief but appropriate terms . The next toast was that of the Visitors , to whom a hearty welcome was extended . Bro . G . H . Denny W . M . 1671 replied , saying he was most delighted to . see the Worshipful Master in the chair of the Lodge , and particularly pleased at the perfect way in which he had been installed . He had had the pleasure of meeting the Worshipful Master at several Lodges of Instruction , and had always found him a hard working member of the Craft .

Bros . T . H . Roberts P . M . 2502 P . P . G . D ., Phillips P . M . 715 , J . Thomas P . M . 753 , and several others among the guests also responded to the toast . In submitting the health of the Treasurer and Secretary , the Worshipful Master congratulated himself and complimented the Lodge on having two such w " orthy and indefatigable Brethren to assist him in the conduct of the

affairs of the Lodge . The toast was heartily received , and duly acknowledged . The Officers of the Lodge were next toasted . The Master said he had had much pleasure in placing them in the different positions they at present occupied , and hoped they would all endeavour to fulfil the duties attached thereto with satisfaction to the Lodge and credit to themselves . He and the Lodge required their assistance in carrying on the work , and therefore he
