After the reading and confirmation of minutes , Bro . F . Andrew was raised to the sublime degree of M . M . by Bro . Joseph Lever I . P . M ., the working tools being presented and explained by Bro . Robert Adshead S . W .

At the festive board which followed , tho various toasts were diversified by songs and recitations given by Bros . C . H . Griffiths S . D ., Dr . E . E . Jones J . D ., J . H . Smith P . M ., Edward Roberts P . M . 1459 , and J . T . Moorhouso .

BLAG DON LODGE , No . 659 . AT the regular monthly meeting held in the Mechanics' Hall , BIyth , on Thursday , 20 th inst ., Bro . W . T . Richardson W . M . presiding , an interesting presentation was made to Bro . Ed . Forster P . M . P . P . G . St . B ., of a silver tea and coffee service , subscribed for by the Brethren of Blyth and district . There was a very large attendance .

Bro . John Tweedy P . M . of Blagdon Lodge P . G . S . of Wcrks made the presentation , and spoke of the many honorary duties that Bro . Forster had performed as a member and Officer of the Lodge . He felt great pleasure in handing over the handsome testimonial on behalf of the subscribers to Bro . Forster , as a souvenir of his silver wedding . Bro . Forster feelingly responded .

HESKETH LODGE , No . 950 . THE annual installation was held on Wednesday , 19 th ult ., at the Crown Hotel , Fleetwood , when Bro . F . J . Thompson was installed Worshipful Master by his predecessor Bro . R . C . Greenwood . The usual banquet took place at the close of the Lodge . During the evening songs were contributed , and further interest was lent

to the proceedings by a very interesting presentation which took place , the recipient being Bro . R . C . Greenwood , who has been appointed to an important position in the Lancaster Bank at Millom . The W . M . made the presentation , which took the form of a Past Master ' s jewel , in a felicitous speech , and Bro . Greenwood appropriately acknowledged . In addition , a gold ring was presented to Brother Dickinson , on behalf of the Lodge .

EGERTON LODGE , No . 1030 . THE last meeting of this Lodge prior to the recess was held at the George Hotel , Heaton Norris , on Monday , 17 th ult ., Bro . Jas . W . Abbott W . M . As there was no particular Masonic business to transact , it had been arranged to invite a few musical friends , who gave some very excellent numbers both vocal and instrumental , a pleasant evening being spent .

DE GREY AND RIPON LODGE , No . 1161 . THE annual meeting and Festival of St . John took place , by dispensation , at the Freemasons' Hall , Manchester , on Saturday , 22 nd ult . Bro . C . F . Vlies W . M . being abroad on matters connected with business , the ceremony of installing his successor was undertaken by Bro . J . Mansell Moss P . M ., assisted by Bro . Job Irlam P . M ., and others . For the reason given above , the presentation of a Past Master ' s jewel to the retiring Master was deferred .

There was a good attendance both of members and visitors , principal among the latter being the Deputy Provincial Grand Master of East Lancashire Bro . C . B . N . Beswicke-Royds , Joseph SelbyP . C , who acted as Installing Deacon , duly presented Bro . Oswald Mycroft Jones S . W ., to receive the benefits of installation .

Ths addresses were delivered by Bro . Moss , the working tools of the various degrees being presented and explained by Bro . E . A . Ehlinger P . M . Secretary . BRENT LODGE , No . 1284 . THE twenty-seventh annual meeting was held at the Masonic Hall , Topsham , on Saturday , 29 th ult ., when the installation was impressively performed by Bro . John Moass P . P . G . Supt . Works . Bro . Charles R . Orchard haying been duly installed , he invested his Officers .

The Brethren afterwards dined together at Bro . Hodder ' s Globe Hotel , when Loyal and Masonic toasts were honoured .

ALBERT VICTOR LODGE , No . 1773 . AT the last regular meeting , held in the Town Hall , Pendleton , on Friday , 21 st ult ., there was a heavy programme of work , in the shape of three candidates for initiation , and one for raising , the whole of the ceremonies being performed . Mr . George James Blore , Chemist , Pendleton , who was the first , was

initiated by Bro . James Clough I . P . M . The second , Mr . John Henry Oakley , Traveller , Pendleton , was initiated by Bro . Thos . M . Brown W . M ., while the third , Mr . John Mcintosh Barrett , Decorator , Pendleton , was inducted into Freemasony by Bro . F . TownsonP . M . The duty of raising Bro . James Hart to the sublime degree of M . M . was undertaken by the W . M .

Supper followed these proceedings , which in turn was succeeded by the festive board , some pleasant vocal and instrumental music being rendered by members and visitors alike . ELLAN VAN N IN LODGE , No . 2049 . THE annual election meeting of this Lodge was held on Monday , 17 th ult ., at Douglas . The election of Officers resulted in the appointment of the present S . W . Bev . B . B . Baron to the office of W . M . Bro . C . T . Callow was , for the third year in succession , elected Treasurer : and Bro . J . Gorry was re-appointed Tyler .

The retiring W . M . Bro . W . Lay and the retiring Secretary were voted jewels in recognition of their services during the year . The sum of ten guineas was voted by the Lodge to the Snaefell Disaster Relief Fund .

ST . TRINIAN LODGE , No . 2050 . AT a meeting on the 21 st ult ., the Provincial Grand Master of the Isle of Man Sir John Goldie-Taubman , accompanied by his Deputy Bro . J . A . Brown and several other Provincial Officers , paid a visit to the Lodge , of

which Bro . F . Windsor is the W . M . There was a large gathering . Two candidates were raised to the third degree , the ceremonies being undertaken by the Deputy Prov . G . M . and Bro . Watterson P . M .

The Lodge voted the sum of five guineas to the Snaefell Fund , and there being a balance of one guinea from an entertainment which the members had organised , that also is to be handed over to the same fund .

V . \ J \ J MINNEHAHA MINSTREL LODGE , No . 2363 . THE regular meeting was held at the Victoria Hotel , Manchester , on Monday , the 24 th ult ., Bro . Fred Hilton P . M . 1458 P . P . G . D . C . Worshipful Master . The minutes having been confirmed , and one of the

ancient charges read , Bro . Frank Albert Slowe was raised to the sublime degree of M . M . by the W . M ., in his usual finished manner . At the festive board which followed , the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts wore agreeably interspersed with songs , & c . Bro . Nathan Heywood P . M ., one of the visitors , gave a very telling recitation .

DUKE OF YORK LODGE , No . 2449 . THE regular meeting was held at the Palatine Hotel , Manchester , on Thursday , the 13 th ult ., Bro . Clement John Hall W . M . The principal business was that of balloting for Mr . George Sawyer , and the test being successful he was afterwards initiated by the W . M ., assisted by Bro . John Kinsey J . W ., who delivered the ancient charge , and presented and explained canaiaace

trie working tools to tne . At the festive board which followed , Loyal and Masonic toasts were given and heartily responded to , these being interspersed with songs , etc ., many of the Brethren being brought under contribution . Bro . Hall W . M ., in proposing the health of the I . P . M ., said that the latter had worked assiduously for the benefit of the Duke of York Lodge . His talents , which were great , had gained him Provincial honours . He hoped he

might live long to enjoy them , and also prove as good a Provincial Officer as he had been a Craft Mason . Bro . Hardicker said , in response , that it would be a piece of vanity on his part if he could possibly think he was worthy of all that had been said about him . He had always taken a very great interest in the Lodge , and he hoped this interest would never diminish . The only regret he felt in accepting the

honours which had been so generously offered to him was that he outstepped another very deserving member of the Lodge ( Bro . Boden P . M . ) . Before concluding his address , he urged upon tlie Brethren the necessity of attending meetings of instruction , so as to be perfect in any work which might be required of them . Other toasts followed , that of the Officers being responded to by Bros , Boden , Sutcliffe , Whatham , and others .

Hardicker said , in response , that it would be a piece of vanity on his part if he could possibly think he was worthy of all that had been said about him . He had always taken a very great interest in the Lodge , and he hoped this interest would never diminish . The only regret he felt in accepting the

honours which had been so generously offered to him was that he outstepped another very deserving member of the Lodge ( Bro . Boden P . M . ) . Before concluding his address , he urged upon tlie Brethren the necessity of attending meetings of instruction , so as to be perfect in any work which might be required of them . Other toasts followed , that of the Officers being responded to by Bros , Boden , Sutcliffe , Whatham , and others .
