MARK GRAND LODGE .

THE Quarterly Communication of the Grand Lodge of England , the Colonies and Dependencies , was held on Tuesday night , at Mark Masons' Hall . The Earl of Euston Pro Grand Master presided , Viscount Dungarvan Deputy Grand Master occupying a seat on his immediate right .

After the Grand Lodge was opened , and before any other business was proceeded with , the Earl of Euston proposed that a loyal and dutiful address be voted to her Majesty on the completion of her sixty years' glorious and prosperous reign .

The motion was seconded by Viscount Dungarvan , and carried unanimously . The address having been read by Bro . C . E . Matier Grand Secretary , it was ordered that it be engrossed on vellum and presented to her Majesty . Afterwards the Prince of Wales was declared installed as

Most Worshipful Grand Mark Master , Lord Euston Pro G . M ., and Viscount Dungarvan D . G . M . Lord Addington and Sir J . C . THE monthly meeting of the Council of Life Governors was held at Freemasons' Hall , W . C ., on Friday , 28 th ult ., and proved of more than usual interest , there being over one hundred present , presided over by Bro . Eichard Eve Patron and Trustee . Amongst those attending were Bros . G . E . Keyser , Thos . Fenn , J . H . Matthews , E . Terry , J . W . Woodall , E . Letchworth ,

Frank Bichardson , O . Philippe , Stanley J . Attenborough , Geo Everett , LeFeuvre , Cummings , John Strachan , Q . C ., W . F Lauaonby , W . S . Emden , J . W . Burgess , Jas . Cumberland , Major Bridges , G . Blizard Abbott , S . B . Baskett , & c .

Ten Petitions were accepted for the October election , and one rejected , the case being ineligible on account of the short subscription of the father . The business which had evidently attracted so large an attendance was the extraordinary election of a member to serve on the Board of Management . Two Candidates were proposed , and on a show of hands 57 voted for Bro . John Strachan , Q . C .,

and 37 for Bro . H . Thomson Lyon . The former was declared duly elected . On the minutes of the Board of Management it was reported that the six Architects selected to send in designs for the new School , at Bushey , had accepted the invitation to compete , and that the designs would be ready by the end of the year .

Also a statement by the Treasurer Bro . Charles E . Keyser , with reference to his offer to build the new Chapel , as follows : — He regretted than an unauthorised statement should have appeared in the Press with reference to supposed conditions attaching to his offer to build the new Chapel at Bushey , and

that a letter such as one referred to had been written . He wished clearly to state that the only condition he attached was that the Chapel should be erected on the site provided by the successful competing Architect , but under his own supervision , and from the design , and under the direction of his own Architect .

The question of associating a permanent record with the Provinces with which he was especially identified was one for the subscribers to determine upon as they might be pleased , for himself , he wished to repeat that he desired no " quid pro quo , " and his offer , except on this single point , was unconditional .

A PBELIMINABY meeting of the Board of Stewards for the coming Festival was held at Freemasons' Hall , on Friday , 14 th ult ., and was attended by a large number of Brethren , Bro . Stanley J . Attenborough Patron and Honorary Solicitor being in the chair .

The Secretary announced that as a result of his appeal , the Board of Stewards was 100 short of the number at the corresponding period of 1896 , but hoped this would be remedied before the date of the Festival , as it was important a successful Festival should be secured this year .
