KEPOKTS OF MEETINGS .

— : o : — MABK MASONRY . — : o : — CORNUBIAN LODGE , No . 87 . A PAST MASTER'S jewel was recently presented to Bro . J . G . Osborn P . M . Treas . P . Provincial J . G . D ., at the Masonio Temple , Hayle . Bro . Viall W . M . presided .

Bro . Frank Harvey P . M . P . Prov . S . G . W ., who was to have performed the ceremony of presentation , wrote regretting his inability to attend and testifying from long experience to the worth of Bro . Osborn as a man and a Mason .

Bro . Baker accordingly made the presentation . In doing so he testified to the great services rendered to Masonry by Bro . Osborn , of whom he spoke as " a consistent and persistent Mason , a Brother

right , straight and true , morally , socially , and intellectually . " The jewel , Bro . Baker continued , was a very handsome one , but not too handsome for the occasion . It was ono of which anybody might bo proud , and yet Bro . Osborn was worthy of a much better one . Tho jewel bears the following inscription . —

Presented to Bro . J . C . OSBORN P . M . Treasurer , by the Cornubian M . M . M . Lodge , as a mark of their esteem for his valuable services . A sumptous supper was laid in the banqueting hall , to which the Brethren , members , and visitors sat down .

After the usual toasts had been honoured , Bro . G . Stevons I . P . M . proposed long life , health , and prosperity to Bro . Osborn , to whose merits he testified in suitable terms . Bro . Osborn , in returning thanks , said he had spoken on many occasions , but never with more feeling than on tho present . When

he looked at their beautiful gift he felt he did not deserve it . It was one which he would always show with pride . Any little services he had performed were rendered as a labour of lovo . In the course of a very interesting speech , Bro . Osborn mentioned that he had been advanced in the year 1870 at Fortitude Lodge , No .

78 , in Truro , by no less a porsonago than Bro . Hughan . In 1880 he was elected W . M . of Cornubian , No . 87 . In 1882 , when still W . M ., there were ten candidates advanced . In 1884 he was elected Treasurer , and continued such ever since . The kindness of the

Brethren he would never forget . He intended to work for Mark Masonry in the future as he had done in tho past , and while he was able to do any business at all for No . 87 , they would always find him in his place .

The Brethren , who responded to tho other toasts , one and all testified to their esteem and regard for Bro . Osborn , and their satisfaction at his merits being so suitably recognised . o o o

BOSCAWEN LODGE , No . 101 . AT tho annual meeting , held at the Masonic Rooms , St . Day , on Tuesday , the 17 th ult ., Bro . George Simmins J . W . P . P . G . J . D . was unanimously elected W . M . for the coming year . Bro . W . A . Bennett P . M . P . P . G . I . of Wks . was re-elected Treasurer , and Bro . J . Paull Tyler . Tho installation will take place at the Masonic Rooms , Chacewater , in June , and the annual banquet will be held at St . Day , in August .

o o o UNION LODGE , No . 124 . THE annual meeting was held at the Masonic Hall , Park Terrace , Sunderland , on Thursday , the 26 th ult . Tho W . M . Bro . F . S . Cowper P . G . S . D . presided . Tho W . M .-elect Bro . Jno . Scarborough S . W . was presented by Bro . F . Maddison P . M . D . C , and was installed by the retiring W . M . A letter of condolence had been sent and a reply received from

the widow of the late Robt . Kinmond P . M . and it was agreed , on the motion of Bro . Fred Maddison P . M . that letters of condolence be sent to the relatives of the late Bro . Benjamin Levy P . M . and Bro . Wm . Liddell P . M ., whose services to the Craft were feelingly alluded to .

The Brethren afterwards sat down to dinner in the banqueting hall . o o o

FIDELITY AND UNANIMITY LODGE , No . 348 . THE festival in connection with this Lodge was celebrated on Tuesday , the 24 th ult ., at the Masonic Hall , Taunton , when Bro . F . B . Wickenden SAY . was duly installed Master for the

ensuing year . The ceremony was impressively performed by Bro . R . C . Else the Provincial Grand Mark Master for Somerset ; and the newlyinstalled Master afterwards appointed and invested the Officers .

After the ceremony the Brethren sat down to dinner under the presidency of Bro . F . B . Wickenden , and there was a large gathering of Brethren and visitors to welcome him on the occasion . o o o

GLOUCESTER LODGE , No . 439

THE third Installation Festival was held at the Masonic Hall , Bell Hotel , Gloucester , on the 19 th ult ., when Bro . A . V . Hatton was installed W . M . for the ensuing year , the ceremony being ably performed by Bro . S . Moss P . G . J . W ., assisted by Bro . W . C . Ferris P . P . G . M . O . The W . M . invested the Officers .

Reports Of Meetings.

It was the intention of tho Prov . G . Master , Bro . R . V . Vassar-Smith , to have performed the ceremony of installation , but owing to ill-health he was unable to be present . After the Lodge business the Brethren sat down to a banquet , which was excellently served , and reflected the highest credit upon the catering of the manageress ( Miss Grimsted ) . o o o

ROYAL ARK MARINERS . THE annual meeting and installation of the St . John's Lodge of Ark Mariners , No . 28 , attached to the Langley Lodge of Mark Masters , took place on Wednesday , 18 th ult ., at the Masonic Hall , Working Street , Cardiff . The Worshipful Com .-elect , Bro . Henry Frazer P . P . G . S . Works , was installed into the chair of N .

by Bro . John Sheridan P . P . G . S . W . Tho retiring and Installing Commander Bro . John Sheridan was presented by Bro . N . D . Marks , on behalf of the Brethren , with a magnificent Past Commander's jewel , in recognition of tho valuable services ho had rendered the Lodge since its resuscitation three years ago .

This Ark Mariner's Lodgo , says the " Western Mail , " is the only one of the degree in the Principality , and was founded in 1874 , but had remained in anoyance for seventeen years . Since its re-opening in 1891 by the Grand Mastor ' s Royal Ark Council , it has had an unexampled degree of prosperity , and numbers now upwards of 100 members .

After labour , the Brethren adjourned to banquet , provided by Bro . Dunn in his best style , at which tho W . Com . Bro . Frazor , presided . Tho usual toasts wero honoured .

DORIC LODGE , No . 933 . THE regular meeting was held on the 10 th inst ., at Anderton ' s Hotol , Fleet Street , Bro . W . A . Moss W . M . presiding . Lodgo was opened , and after formal business , closed and adjourned until October .

The Brethren subsequently sat down to an excellent supper , after which the usual toasts were honoured , a pleasant evening being spent , with the assistance of Bros . Cates , Calver , Cullen , Heavens , and Scott , who contributed songs and recitation .

0 o o JOHN HERVEY LODGE , No . 1260 . THE installation meeting took place on Wednesday , the 11 th ult ., at Freemasons' Tavern , when about eighty Brethren assembled . Bro . Varley the outgoing W . M . installed Bro . E . G . Packman , Bro . Major Heaton being D . C . The charges were faultlessly delivered by Bro . J . B . Sorrel P . M . tho Treasurer of the Lodge .

Mr . Ernest A . R . Adams , second officer and comptroller to the Shoreditch Vestry , is , says the "Hackney Mercury , " one of the latest additions to this Lodge , having been regularly initiated therein . o o o

ST . JOHN LODGE , No . 1306 . THE installation meeting was held on the 12 th ult ., at the Three Nuns Hotel , Aldgatc , Bro . A . F . C . Dickson W . M . Lodge being opened , a ballot was taken for Mr . F . W . Perry , which proved unanimous in his favour , and that gentleman being in

attendance , was duly initiated . The W . M . next raised Bros . Austin and Imber . The Auditors' report was presented , which showed that the Lodge funds were in a highly satisfactory condition , there being a balance at the bankers of three figures , and all liabilities discharged .

The W . M . now vacated the chair m favour of Bro . Oxley P . M ., and Bro . C . Dawe S . W . being presented , was very ably installed into the chair for tho ensuing year , and appointed his Officers . Bro . J . G . Twinn P . M . and Secretary was appointed to represent

the Lodgo at the Festival of the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys , and a sum of ten guineas voted from the funds to be placed upon his list . All Masonic business being ended , the Lodge was closed , and the Brethren withdrew to another apartment and dined together .

In proposing the toast of the I . P . M . the W . M . mentioned how efficiently Bro . Dickson had performed his duties during his year of office . Bro . Dickson , in response , thanked tho Brethren for the kindly feeling expressed towards him , and also for the handsome jewel which they had been pleased to present him with , and said tho welfare of the Lodge of St . John would always be his study .

A cordial welcome was extended to the Visitors , a number of whom responded , speaking in high praise of tho way they had been entertained , and the good working in the Lodge . o o o

GALLERY LODGE OF INSTRUCTION , No . 1928 . THE usual bi-monthly meeting was held at the Press Club , on the 18 th ult ., Bro . J . C . Manning W . M . Gallery Lodge in the chair , G . E . Saunders P . M . No . 1257 S . W ., P . "W . Husk J . W ., Tarran S . D ., C . Basil Cooke I . G ., Hurdell acting Preceptor . The third degree was rehearsed , Bro . Lane acting candidate . Bro .

Saunders was elected W . M . to preside at the next meeting . This Lodge of Instruction is held on the first and third Wednesday in each month , and , having its meetings at the Press Club , is found to be a great convenience to journalists seeking Masonic improvement .
