REPORTS OF MEETINGS .

We shall be pleased to receive particulars of Masonio meetings for insertion in our columns , and where desired will endeavour to send a representative to report Lodge or other proceedings .

CEAFT : METEOPOLITAN . CITY OF WESTMINSTER LODGE , No . 1563 . THE Brethren of this Lodge assembled on Thursday , 24 th ult ., at the Cafe Royal , Regent Street , W ., under the presidency of Bro . E . T . Ginder W . M ., who was supported by Bros . H . T . Culliford S . W ., E . Rutherford 3 . W ., C . M . Brander P . M . Treasurer , W- C . Smith P . M . Sec , T . H . Beach Assist .

Sec , H . J . Homer S . D ., J . B . O'Callaghan 3 . D ., A . Bacon D . C , E . C . Wise man A . D . C ., 3 . B . Burton I . G ., R . F . Potter P . M . Tyler ; also Bros . H Marks P . M ., F . Tile Lod ^ e was opened minutes last meeting were read and confirmed . Lodge was then advanced to the second degree , and Bros . J . Arnold , J . B . Fortescue , F . H . Fortescue , C . J . Knight and H . N . Phillips were examined and entrusted . The Lodge was opened in the third degree , and those Brethren were in due course raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason .

The Worshipful Masuer resumed the Lodge to the first degree , and Bros , Dennis Driscoll , Abraham Joseph , and E . Laurant were presented to be passed . Having answered the questions iu a most satisfactory manner they were entrusted and retired , and the Lodge being advanced to the second degree , they were admitted as Fellow Craft Freemasons .

The W . M . resumed the Lodge to the first degree , and the following five gentlemen were presented for initiation : —Messrs . W . G . Merry , Richard Curtice , C . J . Ewer , T . E . Ford , and Albert Bott , the ballot having been previously proved unanimous in their favour . Those gentlemen were duly initiated into the mysteiies of ancient Freemasonry . This and the former ceremonies were rendered in a most faultless and impressive manner , and to the satisfaction of every Brother present .

AUer some communications and well-earned compliments the Lodge was closed , and the Brethren retired to the banqueting room , where an excellent repast was provided . Upon the removal of the cloth the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were submitted from the chair .

Bro . McLeod responded for the Grand Officers , and testified to the work performed by them . The Officers of the Grand Lodge ruled over the destinies of our great Oider , and every one of them was interested in promoting the welfare of the Craft . Bro . H . Marks P . M ., in eulogistic terms proposed the health of the W . M ., which was well received , and duly responded to .

The W . M . had very much pleasure in pioposing tae health of the Past Mastei-s , to which Bros . Marks , Hill , and others responded . The toast of the Initiates , presented by the W . M ., received a most cordial welcome . Bios . W . G . Merry , B . Curtice , C . Ewer , T . B . Ford , and Albert Bott made suitable response .

In presenting the toast of the Visitors , the W . M . said the Lodge was honoured by Grand Officers and other guests . Bro . McLeod , in his usual eloquent manner responded ., on behalf of the Visitors , saying the W . M . had proved himself worthy , and was a credit to the Lodge . His work that evening was perfection , and he congratulated the

Brethren on the possession of such an excellent worker as their W . M . The W . M . next proposed the toast of the Officers of the Lodge . Bros . Culliford S . W ., Rutherford J . W ., Brander P . M . Treasurer , and W . C . Smith P . M . Secretary most appropriately replied . Other toasts followed , the Tyler ' s toast closing a very happy meeting .

Several of the Brethren added to the enjoyment of the evening with their musical talent .

GALLERY LODGE , No . 1928 . CTIHE annual , ladies night entertainment took place on Saturday , at J _ Anderton's Hotel , Fleet Street . Bro . Samuel James W . M . presided and the company , numbering about 100 , included Brothers Lord Glenesk ] H . C . Richards , M . P ., and R . live . After dinner an entertainment was provided by Brothers Dalgety Henderson , Herbert Grover , W . H . Cheesowright , Will Edwards , R . B . Hopkins ( silver bells ) , David Devant ( from the Egyptian Hall ) H . E . Peacock , and Arthur Fagge ( accompanist ) .

GUARDIAN LODGE , No . 2625 . THIS Lodge , established for the convenience of those engaged in the administration of the Poor Law in the City of London , and now just twelve months old , says tho " City Press , " held its first meeting for the installation of a new Worshipful Master , at the Ship and Turtle , Leadenhall Street , on Thursday . 24 th ult .

To the regret of everyone present , the Lodge ' s first Master Bro . James Tollworthy was unable to be in attendance , on account of a sharp attack of illness . In his absence , the duties of Worshipful Master devolved on Bro . William Shurmur P . P . G . Treas . Essex , the first Brother to act as the Immediate Past Master of the Lodge , and that Brother opened the proceedings and conducted all the ceremonies .

After the preliminary business had been disposed of , Bro . Shurmur installed Bro . Henry V . Clements S . W . as Master of the Lodge for the year ensuing . Bro . Clements is not new to the office , for he already holds the position of Past Master in Lodge 754 , P . M . and Treasurer 1237 , Past Provincial Grand Treasurer Middlesex , P . Z . in Royal Arch Chapters 1237 and 1437 , and Past Provincial Grand Assistant Sojourner Middlesex .

As Bro . Tollworthy was nod present to be invested as the Immediate Past Master Bro . William Shurmur was invested in his place , and the other Brethren appointed as Officers for the year were Bro . T . A . Bullock P . G .

There being no other business before tha Lodge , the Brethren adjourned to an excellent banquet . The usual toasts followed , and a musical entertainment was given , under the direction of Bro . Henry Prenton , by Miss Emily Briggs , Bro . Henry Prenton , Miss Emily Foxcroft , Bro . Bob Rae , and Bro . Dyved Lewys .

Bro . Shurmur P . G . Std . B . proposed the toast of the Worshipful Master , and in doing so said that if during his year of office the W . M . required any assistance the services' of the Past Masters would be entirely at his disposal . The W . M . had passed the chair of many Lodges and Chapters , and he had also had Provincial grand rank both in the Craft and in the Royal Arch , and tho Brethren hoped that he would obtain recognition in Grand Lodge .

Bro . H . V . Clements W . M . responded , and assured the Brethren that he would make every effort to perform his duties with credit to the Lodge . In conclusion , the W . M . gave in appreciative terms the toast of the Installing Master , Bro . Shurmur replying , and expressing the- pleasure it had given him to act . He thought , however , they should pass a vote Of sympathy with Bro . Tollworthy , and he moved accordingly .

Cooper ' s , Globe Tavern , Fish Street Hill ; London Bridge , was Officers' night , and the chair was accordingly occupied by the Worshipful Master of the Mother Lodge Bro : E . Pennock , with M . Baillie S . W ., J . W . Simeons J . W ., W . Belchamber P . M . Prec , J K . Pitt P . P . G . S . B . Sec , G . F . Bushed S . D ., G . Foreman J . D ., J . Rose I . G ., E . J . Davey P . M ., J . Wynman , C . Way , W . Rose , and others .

The ceremony of Initiation was . rehearsed , Bro . W . Rose acting aa candidate . Biro . Foreman offered himself as a candidate , and after the usual procedure the ceremony of passing was rehearsed . ' . " ' ; , ¦ Bro . Metcalf Baillie was unanimously elected as W . M . for next Wednesday , and Bro . William Rose was admitted as a member of the Lodge , Two Ballots for the Benevolent Association were taken , and fell to Bid ' , G . Cooper and Bro , G . F . Bushell .

v u - o ISRAEL LODGE , No . 205 . KNOWING we should hear the beautiful ritual of Freemasonry perfectly rendered we visited this Lodge on Sunday evening , at Bro . Yettonls , the Rising Sun , Globe Road , Mile End , E ., the special occasion being the working of the fifteen sections . The chair was occupied by Bro . David Moss P . D . G . S . B . Johannesburg ,

with B . DaCosta P . M . S . W ., L . A . DaCosta J . W ., I . Goulston I . P . M ., W . Yetton P . M . Treas ., H . 'Harris P . M . Sec , N . Goldman S . D ., P . Meyers J . D ., J . Gaskell I . G ., J . Isaac P . M ., Freeman , Cohn , Durell , M . DaCosta P . M ., J . Oxley P . M ., S . Emden , J . Richmond , J . Cohen , W . Strang ( of the Playgoer ' s Club ) , Toye , A . and B . •Valentine , J . Danziger , A . Abrahams , J . Pearse , J . Wynman , and others , numbering in all about seventy-five .

The Lodgo was opened with the usual formalities , and Bro . S . Emden commenced by working the first section , followed by Bros . Richmond , I . P . Cohen P . M ., M . DaCosta , I . Goulston , J . T . Danziger , and N . Goldman , the latter of whom acted as a substitute , on account of the indisposition of Bro . B . Stewart . The Lodge was opened in the second degree , and Bro . I . Goulston , in the absence of Bro . H . Pollock , worked the first section , followed by Bros . J . Oxley P . M ., N . Goldman , Yetton jun ., and W . Yetton sen ., tha others . '

Lodge was advanced , and Bros . B . DaCosta P . M ., and J . Davis completed the working in the third degree , after which the W . M . resumed the Lodge to the first .. The following Brethren were regularly proposed , seconded and unanimously accepted as members : Bros . L . Mordecai 1349 , J . Cohen 65 , H . P . Hill 1314 , S . Shevernah 1349 , J . Pearce 901 , A . Heard 2346 , F . J . Biown 860 , J . Gumpright 429 . The W . M . called upon Bro . Pearce , of the City of London Lodge , to respond , which was done in a suitable manner .

Bro . Goulston I . P . M ., in most complimentary manner , proposed that a hearty vote of thanks be recorded on the minutes for the most excellent working of the Worshipful Master , which Bro . J . Cohen P . M . had very much pleasure in seconding , he adding that it was the first time the W . M . had worked the sections since his return from Johannesburg . He had come a

long distance on purpose to be present , knowing the faultless manner in which the W . M . could fulfil the duties . He had performed the work in . a way which gave him and the Lodgeof Israel great credit . The Lodge could not g ive him more honours than he already had received , otherwise they would be delighted to do so . He was sure the Brethren would endorse his remarks . .

Bro . Oxley P . M ., with his usual flow of language , had very much pleasure in endorsing the remarks made , also Bro . Gaskill P . M ., who we are pleased to say looks well , and speaks with his usual ability , at the age of eighty-one . The W . M ., on rising , sincerely thanked the Brethren for their kind reception . What he did was purely for the love of Masonry . There were Past Masters who did not attend Lodges of Instruction , and why—because

they had got what they wanted . But in this Lodge it was quite diSerent , as there were several Past Masters who regularly attended , and it was their pleasure to help those who required Masonic knowledge . Before he left for South Africa he had attended as regularly as was possible . Abroad he was the Founder of the Prosperity Lodge , and no matter where he was he always attended Lodges of Instruction . He was pleased that he was again

amongst them , to see such familiar faces , and thanked thern all for having given him the opportunity of working the sections . At the same time he most sincerely thanked those Brethren who had worked the sections in the absence of others who were unavoidably p . 'evented from being present . The W . M . called on several of the workers to respond , which compliment Was highly appreciated .

Several communications were read by Bro . H . Harris the popular Secretary of the Lodge , and after hearty good wishes the Lodgo was closed , the Brethren expressing their pleasure at having received so great a Masonio treat .

The Lodgo was opened with the usual formalities , and Bro . S . Emden commenced by working the first section , followed by Bros . Richmond , I . P . Cohen P . M ., M . DaCosta , I . Goulston , J . T . Danziger , and N . Goldman , the latter of whom acted as a substitute , on account of the indisposition of Bro . B . Stewart . The Lodge was opened in the second degree , and Bro . I . Goulston , in the absence of Bro . H . Pollock , worked the first section , followed by Bros . J . Oxley P . M ., N . Goldman , Yetton jun ., and W . Yetton sen ., tha others . '

Lodge was advanced , and Bros . B . DaCosta P . M ., and J . Davis completed the working in the third degree , after which the W . M . resumed the Lodge to the first .. The following Brethren were regularly proposed , seconded and unanimously accepted as members : Bros . L . Mordecai 1349 , J . Cohen 65 , H . P . Hill 1314 , S . Shevernah 1349 , J . Pearce 901 , A . Heard 2346 , F . J . Biown 860 , J . Gumpright 429 . The W . M . called upon Bro . Pearce , of the City of London Lodge , to respond , which was done in a suitable manner .

Bro . Goulston I . P . M ., in most complimentary manner , proposed that a hearty vote of thanks be recorded on the minutes for the most excellent working of the Worshipful Master , which Bro . J . Cohen P . M . had very much pleasure in seconding , he adding that it was the first time the W . M . had worked the sections since his return from Johannesburg . He had come a

long distance on purpose to be present , knowing the faultless manner in which the W . M . could fulfil the duties . He had performed the work in . a way which gave him and the Lodgeof Israel great credit . The Lodge could not g ive him more honours than he already had received , otherwise they would be delighted to do so . He was sure the Brethren would endorse his remarks . .

Bro . Oxley P . M ., with his usual flow of language , had very much pleasure in endorsing the remarks made , also Bro . Gaskill P . M ., who we are pleased to say looks well , and speaks with his usual ability , at the age of eighty-one . The W . M ., on rising , sincerely thanked the Brethren for their kind reception . What he did was purely for the love of Masonry . There were Past Masters who did not attend Lodges of Instruction , and why—because

they had got what they wanted . But in this Lodge it was quite diSerent , as there were several Past Masters who regularly attended , and it was their pleasure to help those who required Masonic knowledge . Before he left for South Africa he had attended as regularly as was possible . Abroad he was the Founder of the Prosperity Lodge , and no matter where he was he always attended Lodges of Instruction . He was pleased that he was again

amongst them , to see such familiar faces , and thanked thern all for having given him the opportunity of working the sections . At the same time he most sincerely thanked those Brethren who had worked the sections in the absence of others who were unavoidably p . 'evented from being present . The W . M . called on several of the workers to respond , which compliment Was highly appreciated .

Several communications were read by Bro . H . Harris the popular Secretary of the Lodge , and after hearty good wishes the Lodgo was closed , the Brethren expressing their pleasure at having received so great a Masonio treat .
