Lodge was opened in the second degree by P . M . Oades , who announced that Bro . H . E . L . Grant was a candidate to be raised to the third degree ; he therefore put the usual questions , which were

satisfactorily answered , and Bro . Grant was entrusted , and retired . The Lod ge was opened in the third , and Brother Grant was raised t 0 the sublime degree of Master Mason . The beautiful ceremony "Was admirabl y performed by P . M . Oades . The accompaniment of vocal and instrumental mnsic , under the direction of Bro . Hay ward

urgamst , added considerably to the effect . The Lodge was resumed * p ° firafc degree , when three non-official brethren were elected on the permanent Committee . The Permanent Committee ' s report as to he letting of the cellar under the Lodge room was received and adopted . After the usual ceremonies Lodge was closed .

Lodge was opened , and the minntes of last meeting were read , confirmed , and signed . The ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Lees candidate . Lodgo opened in second degree , and Bro . Lees answered the questions leading to third . Bro . Maton was entrusted , and Lodge was opened in third degree . Bro . Maton

represented candidate , and the ceremony of raising was rehearsed . Lodge closed in third and second degrees . Bro . C . E . Botley was elected W . M . for next meeting . A vote of thanks was unanimously accorded to Bro . Gunner , and ordered to be recorded on the minutes , for his able working , for the first time , of the ceremony of the third degree . After Bro . Gunner had acknowledged the compliment , Lodge was closed .

Wallington . After preliminaries , the ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Boyce acting as candidate . The W . M . worked tho first , second , and third sections of the lecture , assisted by tho brethren . Bro . Dignam waa elected W . M . for the ensuing week . All Masonio business being ended , Lodge was closed in due form .

Friars Lodge of Instruction , No . 1349 . —At Bro . Pavitt ' s Liverpool Arms , Canning Town , on Tuesday , 1 st March . Present—Bros . Musto W . M ., Pavitt S . W ., Smith J . W ., Barley J . D ., Prosser I . G ., Worsley Secretary , P . M . Cundick as Preceptor ; Bros . Watkins , Bawe , White , Keable , Forsyth , & c . Lodge was opened in due form and the minutes read . The ceremony of initiation was well rehearsed

by Bro . Musto , who was assisted by that excellent worker Brother Cnndick , who kindly acted as J . D . ; the first , second , and third sections of the lecture were worked by Bro . Worsley . Bro . Pavitt was unanimously elected W . M . for the ensuing week ; tho Lodge then closed . We were gratified at seeing such excellent workers present . The rendering of the ceremony and sections was all that could be desired .

Grey Friars Lodge , No . 1101 . —A meeting was held on Wednesday , 23 rd ult ., at the Masonic Hall , Eeading . Present—Bros . William Ferguson W . M ., John Early Danks I . P . M ., E . J . Blackwell S . W ., Richard Dowsett J . W ., Stransom Treas ., Ivey P . M . Sec , Honey S . D ., Hawkes J . D ., Browne D . C , Eavenscroft Steward , Prickett I . G ., Hemmings Tyler . Past Masters Bros . Hurley , Welch , Margrett .

Visitors—Bros . S . Bradley W . M . 414 , Hawkes Steward 414 . This was an emergency meeting ; the present W . M . having a large schedule of work before him , thought it prudent to divide it a little so as not to have so much to do at any one meeting . Lodge waa opened . Mr . W . E . Parkes , elected in January , and Mr . Frederic Coates , elected at the last regular Lodge , were initiated , the ceremony being

admirably performed . Lodge was opened in the second degree , Bro . Knight , who was prevented from attending the last regular Lodge , a candidate to be raised to the third degree , satisfactorily answered the questions . Lodge was opened in the third , and Bro . Knight was raised to the sublime degree of "JOL , the beautiful ceremony being

most correctly and impressively performed . The vocal and instrumental accompaniment , under the direction of Bro . Eavenscroft , as acting Organist , materially added to the effect , the whole of the brethren joined in the singing of the hymn , and made an impression both on the candidate and the members not to be forgotten . After resuming to the first degree Lodge was closed .

Islington Lodge of Instruction , No . 1471 . —On Tuesday , 1 st March , at the Moorgate Tavern . Present : —Bros . J . Shipley W . M ., Hall S . W ., Orme J . W ., H . T . Thompson acting Preceptor , C . G . Sparrow Secretary , Cuthbertson S . D ., Kern I . G ., and several others . After preliminaries the ceremonies of initiation and passing were rehearsed , Bro . Simpson candidate . Lodge closed in second degree , and Bro . Hall was elected W . M . for the ensuing week .

minntes of the last regular Lodge were read and confirmed . Mr . C . T . Eayner , elected at the last regular Lodge , was initiated by the acting W . M . in a very correct and impressive manner . Lodge was opened in the second degree by P . M . Oades , who announced that Bro . H . E . L . Grant was a candidate to be raised to the third degree ; he therefore put the usual questions , which were

satisfactorily answered , and Bro . Grant was entrusted , and retired . The Lod ge was opened in the third , and Brother Grant was raised t 0 the sublime degree of Master Mason . The beautiful ceremony "Was admirabl y performed by P . M . Oades . The accompaniment of vocal and instrumental mnsic , under the direction of Bro . Hay ward

urgamst , added considerably to the effect . The Lodge was resumed * p ° firafc degree , when three non-official brethren were elected on the permanent Committee . The Permanent Committee ' s report as to he letting of the cellar under the Lodge room was received and adopted . After the usual ceremonies Lodge was closed .

Lodge was opened , and the minntes of last meeting were read , confirmed , and signed . The ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Lees candidate . Lodgo opened in second degree , and Bro . Lees answered the questions leading to third . Bro . Maton was entrusted , and Lodge was opened in third degree . Bro . Maton

represented candidate , and the ceremony of raising was rehearsed . Lodge closed in third and second degrees . Bro . C . E . Botley was elected W . M . for next meeting . A vote of thanks was unanimously accorded to Bro . Gunner , and ordered to be recorded on the minutes , for his able working , for the first time , of the ceremony of the third degree . After Bro . Gunner had acknowledged the compliment , Lodge was closed .

Dalhousie Lodge of Instruction , No . 860 . —On Tues - day , 1 st March , at Bro . Smyth ' s , Sisters' Tavern , Pownall-road ' Dalston . Bros . Christian W . M ., Dignam S . W ., Wardell J . W ., J . Lorkin Sec , Brasted acting Preceptor , Catling S . D ., Glass J . D ., Smyth I . G . ; also Bros . 0 . Lorkin , Macklin , Clark , Boyce , Polak , and P . M .

Wallington . After preliminaries , the ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Boyce acting as candidate . The W . M . worked tho first , second , and third sections of the lecture , assisted by tho brethren . Bro . Dignam waa elected W . M . for the ensuing week . All Masonio business being ended , Lodge was closed in due form .

Friars Lodge of Instruction , No . 1349 . —At Bro . Pavitt ' s Liverpool Arms , Canning Town , on Tuesday , 1 st March . Present—Bros . Musto W . M ., Pavitt S . W ., Smith J . W ., Barley J . D ., Prosser I . G ., Worsley Secretary , P . M . Cundick as Preceptor ; Bros . Watkins , Bawe , White , Keable , Forsyth , & c . Lodge was opened in due form and the minutes read . The ceremony of initiation was well rehearsed

by Bro . Musto , who was assisted by that excellent worker Brother Cnndick , who kindly acted as J . D . ; the first , second , and third sections of the lecture were worked by Bro . Worsley . Bro . Pavitt was unanimously elected W . M . for the ensuing week ; tho Lodge then closed . We were gratified at seeing such excellent workers present . The rendering of the ceremony and sections was all that could be desired .

Grey Friars Lodge , No . 1101 . —A meeting was held on Wednesday , 23 rd ult ., at the Masonic Hall , Eeading . Present—Bros . William Ferguson W . M ., John Early Danks I . P . M ., E . J . Blackwell S . W ., Richard Dowsett J . W ., Stransom Treas ., Ivey P . M . Sec , Honey S . D ., Hawkes J . D ., Browne D . C , Eavenscroft Steward , Prickett I . G ., Hemmings Tyler . Past Masters Bros . Hurley , Welch , Margrett .

Visitors—Bros . S . Bradley W . M . 414 , Hawkes Steward 414 . This was an emergency meeting ; the present W . M . having a large schedule of work before him , thought it prudent to divide it a little so as not to have so much to do at any one meeting . Lodge waa opened . Mr . W . E . Parkes , elected in January , and Mr . Frederic Coates , elected at the last regular Lodge , were initiated , the ceremony being

admirably performed . Lodge was opened in the second degree , Bro . Knight , who was prevented from attending the last regular Lodge , a candidate to be raised to the third degree , satisfactorily answered the questions . Lodge was opened in the third , and Bro . Knight was raised to the sublime degree of "JOL , the beautiful ceremony being

most correctly and impressively performed . The vocal and instrumental accompaniment , under the direction of Bro . Eavenscroft , as acting Organist , materially added to the effect , the whole of the brethren joined in the singing of the hymn , and made an impression both on the candidate and the members not to be forgotten . After resuming to the first degree Lodge was closed .

Islington Lodge of Instruction , No . 1471 . —On Tuesday , 1 st March , at the Moorgate Tavern . Present : —Bros . J . Shipley W . M ., Hall S . W ., Orme J . W ., H . T . Thompson acting Preceptor , C . G . Sparrow Secretary , Cuthbertson S . D ., Kern I . G ., and several others . After preliminaries the ceremonies of initiation and passing were rehearsed , Bro . Simpson candidate . Lodge closed in second degree , and Bro . Hall was elected W . M . for the ensuing week .
