TYRIAN LODGE , No . 253 . THE hundred and fifth anniversary of this , the mother Lodgo of the Province of Derbyshire , was hold on Tuesday , the 23 rd . ult ., at the Masonic Hall , Derby , when there was a largo and influential attendance from all parts of the county . Amongst those -who accepted invitations were the following Worship ful Masters : —Bros .

On the motion of Brother the Rev . H . Price , seconded by Brother T . Cox , a subscription was voted towards the fund for the restoration of Peterborough Cathedral . The brethren subsequently sat down to a banquet . The usual toasts were afterwards drunk , the health of the Worshipful Master and of the Immediate Past Master being heartily
received . The proceedings were marked by an interesting speech on Masonry by Brother the Rev . T . B . Muudy . The musical arrangements of the evening were excellent , a well arranged programme being carried out by a party of brethren , vocalists and instrumentalists , under the conductorship of Brother W . L . Dodd .
UNITED PILGRIMS LODGE , No . 507 .
A MEETING of this Lodge was held on Thursday , 25 th September , at the Bridge House Hotel , London Bridge , under the
presidency of the W . M . Bro . H , E . Cockell . The Lodge having been opened and the minutes confirmed , Bro . H . G . Bowles was passed to the second degree . Mr . John Alexander Laing and Mr . George Beste were candidates for initiation , and having been unanimously elected , they wero initiated by the W . M . At the conclusion of tho business of the Lodge , the brethren partook of an excellent banquet , and the
toast of the Queen and the Craft having been accorded proper Masonio honours , the W . M . proposed the Most Worshipful Grand Master the Prince of Wales , observing that His Royal Highness was ono of the most worthy Officers in Masonry , and he showed more iufcerest in its work than any other personage in so exulted a position had ever done before . It was very gratifying to them to havo tho
future King of England at tho head of Freemasonry . Tlio next toast was that of the Deputy Grand Master and tho rest cf tho Grand Officers present and past , iu introducing which tho VV . M . said that at this time a special but melancholy interest attached to thia toasfc of the Grand Officers . The Craft had recently lost a Pro Grand Master who had filled the position iu the moat eminent way , and who had
proved himself au illustrious Englishman and a splendid Masou . IIo referred , of course , to the late Pro Graud Master tho Earl of Carnarvon , and ho suggested that under the circumstances the toast should on this occasion bo drunk in silence . Bro . Terry I . P . M . proposed the health of the W . M ., who , he said , not only did hia duty most thoroughly , and presided over their meetings in tho most happy aud
genial manner , but had also introduced his wife and her friends to givu them further pleasure by their sweet music . He trusted that after a successful year of office Bro . Cockell would long remaiu with the Lodge as ono of its most honoured Past Masters , and thoy all wished him and his wife a long life of happiness . Brother Cockell W . M . expressed himself deeply sensible of the kind things that
lad been said of him and of the hearty way in which the toast had been received . Ho had only done what be always endeavoured to do , and that was to throw himself earnestly into any matter that he took in hand . He held that if a person took auy offico ho should discharge tho duties of the position to the best of his ability ; aud ho could ask them with great confidence to pardon his shortcomings , because he could assure them that ho did his best . received this toast , aud said thafc thafc mght would bo a red letter night with him . It had given him intense pleasure that one of hia own chicks had boon in the chair that night , and had occupied it in a manner that was a credit . to tha Lodge . It was to him a source of great pride that a gentleman whom ho had introduced to the Lodge , and whom ha had initiated when he occupied the chair , had attained
the position of Worshipful Master and had acquitted himself in a way thafc was a credit to Masonry . Referring to a vote passed by the Lodge to support the candidature of a grand daughter of Brother Cooper for the Girls' School , her father , who was also a Mason , having been suddenly called to his rest while yet a young man , Bro . Joyce said that the yonng members did
not know how much the Lodge was indebted to Bro . Cooper . Ifc waa really he who resuscitated the Lodge , and sorry indeed was he ( Bro . Joyce ) to know that their worthy brother now needed their assistance . He was certain , however , that that assistance would be given by the members of the Lodge to the utmost of their power . Ifc did them good to be kept np to work of this kind , thus carrying out
the true Masonio feeling of brotherly love , relief and trnth . Alluding again , in conclusion , to the happy success of the W . M ., he said he should be mnch mistaken if this year did not prove one of the brightest in the annals of the Uuited Pilgrims Lodge . The W . M . then proposed the Officers of the Lodge , and said he had to congratulate himself on having the most zealous body of Officers that any Master could possess . Bro . Joyce acting S . W . and other Officers replied . A
special feature of the evening ' s proceedings was a very choice selection of music , rendered by the W . M ., Mrs . Cockell , Miss Kathleen Grant , Bro . C . M . Ohren , and Bro . Bishop Organist . Bro . Thornbnry contributed two humorous recitations , in excellent form , and the success of the gathering was also greatly enhanced by the labours of Bro . Joyce P . M ., who , combining the offices of S . W . and Steward , was unceasing in hia efforts fco ensure fche comfort and enjoyment of tho brethren .

AN interesting gathering took place on Tuesday , fche 16 fch nlfc . i at the Masonio Hall , Ventnor , when Bro . J . J . Williams , who is leaving for Queensland , was presented with au album , containing between 30 and 40 cabinet portraits of the members of fche above Lodge ; also with a picture copy of the Lodge banner . The portraits and album were supplied by Bro . Porter .

ON Tuesday , the 16 th nit ., Bro . T . Pollitfc was duly installed Worshipful Master for the ensuing year . The was a large attendance of fche brethren . The Installing Officers were Bro . G . Cornfield P . P . G . S . B ., and Bro . W . Turvey Prov . G . S ., and they went through fche ceremony with marked efficiency . The newly-installed W .
