sumptuous banquet was provided by Bro . Bennion . The Loyal toasts were drunk and the rnlers in the Craft , both in Grand Lodge and Provincial Grand Lodge , were honoured .. Bros . Prince , Taylor , Tunnioliff , and Iogamells responded for the Provincial Grand Officers . Bro . Webberley proposed the health of the Installing Master , and Bro . Ward responded . The health of tho Worshipful Master was

proposed by Bro . Griffiths , and Bro . Kent submitted the toast of the Visiting Brethren , on whose behalf Bros . Brandon , Faram , Farmer , and Jones responded . Bro . Prince proposed the Masonic Charities , nnd in the course of his remarks said there wero at the present time in the Masonio School for Girls 263 , in the Boys' School 268 , and in the Benevolent Institution 431—192 men , each of whom

received £ 40 per annnm , and 241 widows , each of whom received £ 32 per annum . He observed that the annnal income was abont £ 50 , 000 , and he believed that fche funds Were now carefully and judiciously administered . Bro . Greatbacb , in responding , specially commended the Charities to the attention of the younger brethren . Last year was an exceptional year , when they raised £ 90 , 000 for the three great Masonio Charities , though the annnal income generally

was about £ 50 , 000 in round numbers . Besides that , there were votes for charitable purposes in Provincial Grand Lodges and private Lodges to the extent of at least £ 10 , 000 a year . He advocated the extension of efforts in the Provinces to make provision for those who were unable to obtain tbe advantage of fche central Institutions owing to the excess of candidates . Several other toasts were drunk . During the evening vocal music was contributed by brethren , and the proceedings were of an enjoyable character .

LODGE OP REPOSE , No . 802 . rpiHE anniversary festival of the Lodgo of Repose was celebrated -L in very successful fashion at the Masonic Hall , Derby , on Thursday ovening , the 26 th ult . The Lodge was opened at a quarter past five , the attendance of brethren from Derby and other Lodges in the Province being unusually large . Bro . Eaton W . M . took the chair , und , after some preliminary bnsiness had been disposed of ,

proceeded , with the assistance of Brother Thomas Oldham I . P . M ., to instal his successor , Brother Draper Welch Bardill . The ceremony was impressively performed , and subsequently Brother Bardill , the newly installed Worshipful Master , invested bis Officers for the ensning year , as follow : —Bros . A . Ealoa I . P . M ., Brown S . W ., Harry Slater J . W ., Raymond Slater Treasurer , Huggins Secretary , Rowan

S . D ., Frost J . D ., Gilman Director of Csremonies , Thompson Organist , William Eaton I . G ., S . Bennett , Hingley , W . Bennett , and Smith Stewards , Day Tyler . The Lodge having been closed , the brethren present , to the number of seventy , adjourned to the lower room , where tbe annnal banqnet was served . The repast , which was of the most recherche character , was presided over by Brother Bardill , aud

subsequently the Loyal and Masonic toasts wore given with the customary honours . The health of the new Master was submitted by Brother Brown , and drunk wifch much cordiality . Reference was made to Brother BardilPs zeal for the best interests of the Order and bis many excellent personal qualities , and a wish that he might have a bright and prosperous year of office was warmly endorsed . In

acknowledging the toast , Brother Bardill expressed a hope that the Lodge would exert itself on behalf of the Charities of the Fraternity , and intimated his intention of working on behalf of the Boys' School . The musical arrangements were entrusted to Bro . Dodd , and afforded the greatest enjoyment , tho festival in all its features being eminently successful .

Harfield suitably acknowledged the giffc , and said thafc owing to tbe removal of Brother Robertson to the neighbourhood of Oxford he had had to fulfil the dnties of fche Master ' s ohair virtually for two years , bufc it had been a great pleasure to him to render what service he was able fco fche Shirley Lodge . Afc the poit-prandial proceedings the Deputy Provincial Grand Master , responding for Grand Lodge

and Provincial Grand Lodge , said thafc by a resolution recently passed , the Grand Master would have more collars at his disposal , and thia would be extended to the Provincial Grand Lodges , so thafc the Provincial Grand Master of Hants and the Isle of Wight wonld in future have a greater nnmber of hononrs to bestow than bad hitherto been the case .
