NO . I have not joined the Freemasons , and yon need not si gn yonrnelves mine " fraternally " when you write . Neither am I going to divulge any of the secrets of that ancient and honourable Craft , for tho simple reasin ( hat I know of none that are not patent to all tlio world on this side of the Atlantic . But I have ( by invitation ) partaken of a Masonic banquet , und afterwards honoured with my

presence the inalalla'ion of tho " Worshipful Master , " and a number of minor officers down to the " Tyler . " They reverse the order of things in this conn try , for I am toll that in England they proceed to tho installation first , and afterwards have tho banquet . This is in accordance with tho English marriage law , which enacts thafc the

" solemn service thai ! take place before the wedding feast , humourously called "breakfast" at r . oon . But bless you ! every man present was as sober as a judge after the banquet ; indeed I felt rather more so . For it wai not a " banquet of wine .
