1 THE brethren of this Lodge celebrated their Festival on the 16 th - ult ., at the Masonio Hall , Southampton , when Bro . C S . Dusautoy was installed in the cbair in succession to Bro . Edward Brown , the ceremony being performed by Bro . G . Cross , in a manner wbich gained for him warm commendation . Apologies for

nonattendance were announced from Bros . Le Feuvre , J . Harris W . M . 76 , and G . Tilling W . M . 394 . The W . M . elect had the privilege of being presented for installation by his father , by whom he was also initiated abont 17 years ago . Tbe following Officers were appointed : —Bros . Brown I . P . M ., Bookman S . W ., Jenvey J . W .,

Weston Secretary , B'kcr S . D ., Dacombe J . D ., Cross D . C , Hardie Organist , Griffiths I . C ! ., Rogers and Kingman Stewards , aud Tare and Biggs Tylers . Oa the proposition of Bros . Adams and Dusautoy a hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Bro . Brown for the efficient and hospitable manner in which be had fulfilled bis duties during the

year , this deserved compliment being coupled with a decision to present him at the next meeting with a Past Master's jewel . The installation banquet was supplied in first-class style by Bro . Dartnall , and both here and in open Lodge incidental allusion was made to the

death of Bro . George Dnnlop , by which event three Lodges in Southampton have been placed in mourning . The new Worshipful Master presided , and his health was cordially proposed by the I . P . M . The usual Masonic toasts were also honoured .

THE installation meeting took place at Bangor , on the 17 th ult ., when no fewer than forty of the brethren attended . This year the W . M . elect was Bro . T . E . Harris , one of the most popular Freemasons in Wales . The Rev . J . Morgan , M . A ., W . M . of the Lodge ,

conducted the proceedings . The usual formal business having been transacted , Mr . W . Thornton Jones was balloted for , elected , and initiated . The report of the audit committee was read and approved . Bro . Colonel Henry Piatt , the installing Master , entered the Lodge room , and was received with the customary honours . He proceeded

The Lodge of Harmony has had 'is present charter between thirty and forty years , bat as No . 403 it dues back about eiahty years ago . The Lodge has naturally passed

through many vicissitudes , and although in point of numbers it may nb oue time have be * -n stronger , there probably was nover a period more favourable for working it up into a prominent position amongst \\ a contemporaries than at present . For forty . live years the meetings of the Lodge Laro been held at the Wheatsheaf Hotel , whero there is a handsome and spacious room , specially designed and erected for

CONCORD LODGE , No . 632

'PHE annual meeting was held at Trowbridge , on Tuesday , the -L 31 st ult . The brethren and visitors assembled at 130 in goodly numbers , and u considerable amount of enthusiasm was manifested ; this may be accounted for by the popularity of the W . M . elect , Bro . G . L . Palmer , and chat this was the first regular meeting in the Masonic Hall since its enlargement , its proportions being now of a

handsome character . The W . M . Bro . F . Kelland occupied the chair , and opened the proceedings , thoro being a numerous company present . Bro . W . J . Mann presented the annnal report , which was of a satisfactory character , and in his capacity of Steward for Wiltshire for the Royal Masouio Institution for Girls , made an appeal on behalf

of that Institution , which will celebrate its Centenary this year . The Lodge unanimously voted a sum of 30 guineas towards this excellent Charity . Assisted by a Board of Past Masters , Bro . F . Kelland then , in a very able and satisfactory manner , installed the W . M . elecfc , Bro . Pa'mer , into the chair for tho ensuing year . The W . M . then

proceeded to invest his Officers , as follow : —Bros . Pocock S . W ., Applegate J . W ., Mann Treasurer , Hill Permanent Seecretary , Selfe Assistant Secretary , Brown S . D ., Chaplain J . D ., Bishop D . C ., Cox Organist , White I . G ., Bailey Tyler . The charge to the W . M . was delivered by Bro . Sir Gabriel Goldney D . P . G . M .. in his usual

impressive manner , and that to the Officers by Bro . Kelland . The musical portion ofthe ceremony was supplied by Bro . Millington , who presided at the mustel organ . The brethren , to the number of 60 or

70 , including Bro . Goldney , and most of tho distinguished Visitors , afterwards dined together at the George Hotel , Miss Hewitt catering in a satisfactory manner . A very enjoyable time was spent , under the presidency of the new W . M . Bro . Palmer .

SCARSDADE LODGE . No . 684

THE anniversary meeting was held at tbe Masonic Hall , Saltergate , Chesterfield , on Wednesday , the 25 th ult ., when Bro . T . Wilkinson was duly installed into the Master's chair by Bro . Jeudwine . The following brethren were aftei wards invested : —Bros . Thomas Shipton S . W ., Wiudle J . W ., Kuowles S . D ., Arthur Milner D . C , Norman Biggin Organist , Chamberlain I . G ., Turner and

Bennett Stewards , Smith Tyler . Past Masters Hewitt , Jeudwine , Rooth , White , Jones , also Bros . Barnes , Armstrong , Rangeley , Boag , and Briggs . Tbe attendance was smaller than usual , no doubt owing to the prevailing epidemic of illness in the neighbourhood , to recent

bereavements in the families of some of the brethren , and to other entertainments ou the snme evening , but one of tho most agreeable re-unions in tbe history of the Craft in Chesterfield was thoroughly enjoyed .

UNITED LODGE . No . 697

THE monthly meeting was held on Wednesday , the 25 th ult ., and there was an unusually large attendance of members and visitors , it having been understood that a testimonial ( which had been subscribed for by tho members ) was to be presented to Bro . Thomas Rix in recognition of his long and valuable services to the

Lodge as its Secretary . Ia making the presentation , the Worshipful Master ( Bro . G . Fung Hazell ) referred to the long and valuable services which Bro . Rix had rendered to the Lodge , aud his love and zeal for Freemasonry in general . He alluded to the fact that Bro . Rix bad twice passed the chair , and that for a space of nearly 20 years

he had filled the office of Secretary , without receiving any fee or reward , beyond a mere verbal recognitiou of his services . During the whole of that long period he had only been absent twice , and it occurred to one of tho oldest Past Masters ( Bro . T . Eustace ) that such devotion to Freemasonry , and such faithful service to the Lodge ,

was deserving of more than verbal acknowledgment , and a subscription was started for the purpose of presenting Bro . Rix with a substantial mark of their appreciation of his labours . The members of the Lodge most toadily contributed towards the fund , and he now had the pleasure if asking Bro . Rix's acceptance of a marble

timepiece and nn illuminated address , '' in grateful recognition of his long , valued , and efficient services as Secretary . " Bro . Rix , in response , thanked the Worshipfnl Master for the way in which he had spoken of his services , which ho said wera rendered without the hope or expectation of reward . The dnties of Secretary of such a Lodgo as

that , numbering as it did between 80 and 90 members , were no light matter j and had it not been for tho valuable assistance he always received from his friend the P . G . Secretary , Bro . Railing , ho should never have been able to cope with the difficulties which often presented themselves . However , so long as he had health and

strength , ancl so long as it was tho wish of the brethren , he should be happy to continue ia the office which he had filled , ho hoped to the satisfaction of all , for so many years . Ele thanked the brethren from tho bottom of his heart for their very handsome testimonial , which

ho shonld always p : ize very highly , and which would bo handed as an heirloom to his children . Too clock , a massive black marble timepiece , was supplied by Bro . IJildyard , of Colchester ; and the address , which was very beautifully illuminated , was tlu work of Mr . O . Rilling , of Exeter , formerly of Colchester .

Lodge as its Secretary . Ia making the presentation , the Worshipful Master ( Bro . G . Fung Hazell ) referred to the long and valuable services which Bro . Rix had rendered to the Lodge , aud his love and zeal for Freemasonry in general . He alluded to the fact that Bro . Rix bad twice passed the chair , and that for a space of nearly 20 years

he had filled the office of Secretary , without receiving any fee or reward , beyond a mere verbal recognitiou of his services . During the whole of that long period he had only been absent twice , and it occurred to one of tho oldest Past Masters ( Bro . T . Eustace ) that such devotion to Freemasonry , and such faithful service to the Lodge ,

was deserving of more than verbal acknowledgment , and a subscription was started for the purpose of presenting Bro . Rix with a substantial mark of their appreciation of his labours . The members of the Lodge most toadily contributed towards the fund , and he now had the pleasure if asking Bro . Rix's acceptance of a marble

timepiece and nn illuminated address , '' in grateful recognition of his long , valued , and efficient services as Secretary . " Bro . Rix , in response , thanked the Worshipfnl Master for the way in which he had spoken of his services , which ho said wera rendered without the hope or expectation of reward . The dnties of Secretary of such a Lodgo as

that , numbering as it did between 80 and 90 members , were no light matter j and had it not been for tho valuable assistance he always received from his friend the P . G . Secretary , Bro . Railing , ho should never have been able to cope with the difficulties which often presented themselves . However , so long as he had health and

strength , ancl so long as it was tho wish of the brethren , he should be happy to continue ia the office which he had filled , ho hoped to the satisfaction of all , for so many years . Ele thanked the brethren from tho bottom of his heart for their very handsome testimonial , which

ho shonld always p : ize very highly , and which would bo handed as an heirloom to his children . Too clock , a massive black marble timepiece , was supplied by Bro . IJildyard , of Colchester ; and the address , which was very beautifully illuminated , was tlu work of Mr . O . Rilling , of Exeter , formerly of Colchester .
