ON the afternoon of Thursday , the 25 th nit ., tho Provincial Grand Chapter of Somerset met at the Masonio Hall , Frome , to consecrate the now Dungarvou Chapter , No , 973 , of Royal Arch Mnsoni . The cere , nvjuy was performed by the Graud

Superintendent of Somerset'Comp . R . C . Else P . G . Standard Bearor of England , assisted by Comps . E . Harris P . G . H . acting H ., F . T . Elworthy P . Z . acting J ., and the Officers of the Provincial Grand Chapter of Somerset . Tho Masonio Hall was most elaborately

decorated for the occasion , some beautiful banners having been painted for the purpose by Mrs Dalby , wife of one of the founders of the Chapter . The petition praying for the charter forwarded to the Supreme Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of England

was signed by Comps . Lord Dungarvon , A . Duokett , A . G . Hayman , G . W . " Wiltshire , R . S . Gougb , F . Bendle , S . Spill , A . J . Rozea , P . Ediagor , J . M . Rattray , F . E . Pearse , G . R . Wilson and F . Kirbell . It was supported by a resolution of the Royal

Somerset Lodge , No . 973 , and approved by the Grand Superintendent of Somerset . There was a large attendance of members of the Craft from the various Chapters of Somerset , Bristol , and Wiltshire . The Companions assembled iu tho ante-room at

two . The Principals pro tem and other Principals , Present and Past , entered the Chapter room for the opening ceremony at p . m . The Consecrating Officer addressed tbe Companions on the nature of fche meeting , and called on the Provincial Grand S . E . to

state the wishes of the Companions and the proceedings they had taken with respect to the Chapter . The chorale— " Hail , Eternal , by Whose aid , " was next sung , after whioh the Provincial Grand S . E . addressed the Principals , the Petition and Charter were read , the

Officers nominated were approved in Masonio form , aud the oration waa delivered . Next was sung a chorale ( 133 Psalm)— " Bohold how pleasant aud how good , " and the first portion of tho Dedication prayer was offered , responded to by chants , " Glory bo to

Thee , O God , & c . The invocation was then pronounced , followed by another chant , tho reading of portions of Scripture , and the anthem , " Lift up thine eyes , " composed by Comp . John Northam expressly for the occasion . As the ceremony proceeded the

Companions sang three verses of "When once of old in Israel , " interspersed with tho Sanctus , " Glory be to God on High . " The Chapter was then dedicated , the second part of the prayer being offered , followed by a chant and chorale as before . The Conse .

orating Officer next constituted the Chapter in ancient form , after whioh there were further chants and the patriarchal benediction . The installation of the three Principals—the Right Hon . Viacount Duugarvau P . G . M . Somerset M . E . Z ., Comp . Arthur Duokett H .,

In the evening the installation banquet was held at the George Hotel Assembly Rooms . A recherche repast was provided by Comp . and Mrs . Kirbell . The tables were adorned with choice flowers . The nsnal Loyal and Masonio toasts were given .

The consecration of the Lome Chapter will take place at the small Public Hall , Sutton , on Thursday , tho 8 th inst ., when Comp . Col . Gerard Noel Money , C . B ., will perform the ceremony . designate , and Comp . William Pile S . E . pro teru . An elaborate programme of the ceremony to take place in laying the corner-stone of the new Halifax

Infirmary by the Earl of Lathom , on Saturday , 17 th inst ., was issued to the District Lodges recently . Sir Albert Woods , K . C . M . G ., ( Garter ) , Grand Director of Ceremonies , has charge of

the arrangements . Lord Lathom Pro Grand Master will preside at a Provincial Grand Lodge to be opened afc 3 p . m ., and afterwards the brethren of

the Province will walk in procession to the site of the new Infirmary . All brethren are to appear in full Craffc clothing , and full Masonic ceremonies are to be observed .

the arrangements . Lord Lathom Pro Grand Master will preside at a Provincial Grand Lodge to be opened afc 3 p . m ., and afterwards the brethren of

the Province will walk in procession to the site of the new Infirmary . All brethren are to appear in full Craffc clothing , and full Masonic ceremonies are to be observed .
