Proposed New Lodge.
PROPOSED NEW LODGE .
AVERY successful meeting of the founders and supporters of a proposed Photographers Lodge was held at the Frascati , on Thursday , to decide upon the name of the Lodge and nominate the first principal Officers . It was decided to name it the Photographers Lodge , to be open to all
connected in any way with the profession . Bro . Done strongly urged that the time was fitting to immortalise the inventors of photography , and to name the Lodge the Daguerre Talbot , but unfortunately those names appear to have been almost forgotten , and Bro . Done ' s proposition was not seconded .
Bro . Vandyke was chosen first W . M ., Bro . Hills S . W ., Bro . Rossdale J . W ., Bro . Staley I . P . M ., and Bro . Dunmore Secretary pro . tem . It was decided the Lodge should be a winter one , holding its meetings at the Frascati on the last
Thursdays in October , November , January , February and March . The three principal Officers are well known in the Craft , and the Lodge has a splendid future before it if the Petition of its Founders meets the approval of the Grand Master .
It is hoped the Consecration will take place at an early date , that the regular meetings may commence in October . It was felt that many well known Brothers in the Provinces
connected with the photographic trade visit London during the winter , and that when professional , dealer , and amateur come in touch with each other in the Masonic Temple , great benefits would ultimately ensue to photographers in general .
There is a full quota of work for the first degree on the agenda for the regular meeting of the Domatic Lodge , No . 177 , to be held on Friday next , at Anderton ' s Hotel , Fleet Street , five candidates being proposed for election and initiation . We are also pleased to see a proposition by the
esteemed Treasurer of the Lodge Bro . George Everett P . M . P . G . T . of England , suggesting a grant of twenty-five guineas from the Lodge funds to the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls , for which the W . M . Bro . J . Anleyjun . is acting as a Steward for the forthcoming Festival . The meeting is called for 5 . 15 p . m ., with banquet to follow at 7 o ' clock .
The regular meeting of the Upton Lodge , No . 1227 , will be held on Thursday next , at the Great Eastern Hotel , Liverpool Street . There are two candidates for election , and another already approved of , waiting for initiation : and
there are four Brethren eli gible for the second degree , so that there will be plenty of work for Bro . H . J . Rowberry the Worshipful Master and his Officers . The Lodge is called for 5 o ' clock , with supper at 7 . 30 .

WE regret to record the death of Bro . John Hewlett , which occurred at his residence , Upper Edmonton , after a short illness , on Tuesday morning , 13 th ult , aged 72 years . The deceased served in the police as sergeant , and was the first to reside in the Edmonton police station soon
after it was built . He was transferred to Kensington and eventually retired from the force on an Inspector ' s pension . Afterwards he filled the office of County Court Bailiff and Vaccination Officer , both of which he held many years . He was a member of the King Harold Lodge .
ON the 19 th ult . the body of the late Captain Frederick Hood , Tees harbour master , was conveyed from his home at Middlesbrough , to the new cemetery , where there was a large attendance of relatives and friends , including a number of the members of the North York Lodge , of which the deceased was a member .
THE remains of Dr . Charles Oakeley , of New Cross , were interred on Thursday , 8 th ult ., at Brockley Cemetery . The first portion of the funeral service was read by the Rev . Howard J . H . Truscott , in the presence of a large and sympathetic congregation , at St . Catherine ' s , Hatcham . A
beautiful harp with one broken string from the St . Catherine Musical Society , a cross from the Committee of the Honour Oak Golf Club , a wreath from the Loyal Monmouth Lodge of Freemasons , and another from the Nunhead tradesmen , were of especial interest among a great number of floral tributes .
