H . R . H . the Duchess of Albany gave birth to a daughter on Sunday evening , and Her Royal Highness and the infant princess are both progressing favourably . The happy event was announced in London on Monday by a Royal salute of 21 guns in St . James ' s Park .

Mr . W . C . Kemp , late of Reigate Grammar School , and son of Bro . W . J . Kemp P . M . and Secretary of the Royal Albert Edward ( Redhill ) Lodge , 1362 , P . G . P . Surrey , has obtained a Mathematical Scholarship at Worcester College , Oxford , of the value of £ 80 per annum . The examination

was entirely open , and without limitation as to age , and consequentl y the competitors were numerous , and Mr . Kemp , who is not yet 19 years of age , is to be congratulated

upon his striking success . In 1881 he obtained the Exhibition of £ 70 per annum given by Worcester College to the most deserving candidate of the year in the Oxford Local Examination .

The "Freemasons' Calendar and Pocket Book " for 1883 can bo had at the Grand Secretary ' s Office , Freemasons ' Hall , London , price 2 s , bound in roan .

By the death of his father , Lord Egerton , of Tatton , Bro . the Hon . Wilbraham Egerton , M . P ., Prov . Grand Mark Master Mason for Cheshire , succeeds to the title , and a vacancy is thus caused for Mid Cheshire in the House of Commons .
