RUTLAND LODGE , No . 1179 . ON Wednesday , 17 th ult ., Bro . S . Robinson was installed at the Butland Hotel , Ilkeston . There was a number of visiting brethren , and altogether 53 sat down to a splendid spread , provided by Bro . E . Hall in his usual unequalled style . o o o

OLICANA LODGE , No . 1522 . ON the 22 nd ult ., the brethren celebrated the Festival of St John . Bro . Arthur Holmes was installed by Bro . Dr . W . R Bates P . M . o o o

CONCORD LODGE , No . 1534 . THE regular meeting was held at Chester Bank , Prestwich , on tho 18 th ult ., Bro . W . H . Norton W . M . There were also present :-Bros . Wm . B . Midgley S . W ., E . S . Done J . W ., John W . Thompson P . M . P . P . G . St . B . Treas ., John Wardle P . M . Sec , H . B . Fawssett J . D ., J . S . Ellis I . G ., W . W . Briggs I . P . M ., Edward

Hilton P . M ., S . F . Simons P . M ., Edw . Roberts P . M . Asst . Prov . G . T . ( F REEMASON ' S CHRONICLE ) , J . Rostern , Albert Summersgill . The ordinary business of the Lodge was transacted , after which the brethren sat down to supper , the same being followed by the usual entertainment .

O 0 o ECCLESTON LODGE , No . 1624 . A LADIES' night which was held on the 17 th ult ., will be remembered by those who were present as the most successful gathering \ et held under the auspices of this powerful and

flourishing Lodge . Considerably over 2 G 0 sat down to the banquet at the Criterion Restaurant , and even this large attendance was swelled later on by some 50 or 60 additional arrivals to take part in the

ball which followed . At the banquet , the W . M . ( Bro . Arnold ) proposed a few toasts , but the speeches were of the briefest kind , the Master having enjoined that they should not be " long , dry , and wearisome . "

O O o DUKE OF CONNAUGHT LODGE , No . 1834 . THE installation meeting took place on the 23 rd ult ., at the Freemasons' Hall , Landport , when Bro . R . J . Waterman was

installed . The ceremony was performed by Bro . Alexander Howell , in the presence of a large and influential gathering , and a vote of thanks was accorded him for the impressive manner in which he had carried out his duty . The proceedings terminated with an excellent banquet , at which the customary Masonic toasts were honoured .

O O O FERRUM LODGE , No . 1848 . ON Wednesday , 10 th ult ., Bro . F . Brewster S . W . was installed W . M ., in the Masonic Hall at Micidlesborough , by Bro . W . P . Cochrane . The annual banquet was afterwards held in the Hall , o o o BLACKWATER LODGE , No . 1977 .

fPHE annual supper was held on the 22 nd ult ., after the usual JL Lodge meeting , at the Blue Boar Hotel , Maldon , the W . M ., Bro . G . Brown , presiding . Bro . T . J . Railing , who responded for the Grand Officers , said he had that day been attending a meeting in London to raise a fund for the benefit of the widow of Bro . Geo . Cooper , of Brentwood .

Bro . Cooper had done a great deal for the Craft in many ways , and he had been cut off suddenly in the prime of life , leaving his widow and only son but scantily provided for . Bro . Railing was sure tho Province generally would contribute to the fund which had been started . o o o

CASTLEBERG LODGE , No . 2091 . ON Thursday , 18 th ult ., the brethren assembled at the Masonic Rooms , Settle , to assist at the installation qf Bro . F . E . Atkinson as W . M . for the ensuing year . Visitors were present from Westmoreland , West and East Lancashire , and several of the local Lodges at Skipton , Keighley , Slaidburn , & c . The annual report showed that the Lodge was in a flourishing state .

After the business was over between thirty and forty of the brethren celebrated the festival of St . John by an excellent dinner at the Ashfield Hotel .

o o o PRINCE EDWARD LODGE , No . 2109 . rpHE brethren held their annual festival in the Conservative Hall , -L Heaton Moorwhen the ceremony of installing Bro . A . W .

, , Reynolds was performed by Bro . J . W . Berra P . M . At the subsequent banquet the W . M ., in highly complimentary terms , presented to Bro . T . T . Shann I . P . M . a beautiful P . M . ' s jewel .

ABBEY LODGE , No . 2120 . ON Wednesday , 10 th ult .-, one of the most numerous assemblages that has occurred sinco the foundation of this Lodge took place at Chertsey , the event being to assist in the installation of Bro . C . Welch as W . M . Bro . Dix was assisted in the duties of installation by Bro . P . M . Bidwell .

After tho installation the brethren of the Lodge , with many visitors , sat down to a banquet served in splendid style by Bro . Mason . o o o

GORDON LODGE , No . 2149 . AT the quarterly meeting held on Wednesday , 24 th ult ., at the Masonic Hall , Hanley , an interesting ceremony took place . For some time past it has been know amongst the brethren meeting at that place that Bro . James Charlesworth intended to present to the Lodge a collection of rare and valuable works on Freemasonry . At this meeting , over which Bro . J . J . W . Heath W . M . presided , and

which was largely attended by brethren and visitors , Bro . Charlesworth made the presentation . In doing so , he said that the trouble he had taken in getting the books together had not only been valuable to him as experience in book hunting , but that the work had been to him a labour of love . His desire was that this

collection of books which he had the pleasure of handing over to the Lodge would form a nucleus of a Masonic library which he hoped would soon be considerably enlarged by the interest and generosity of tho brethren . The W . M . then called upon Bro . A . H . Heath , of the Apollo Lodge , Oxford University , to open the library .

Bro . Heath said that be was delighted to accept the invitation to be present that evening . Although a Mason of many years standing ho had not of late been able to give as much attention to Masonry as he desired . It was , however , a gnat pleasure to him to be there and to inaugurate what he hoped would be a most interesting and

useful library in connection with Masonry . After declaring the library open Bro . Heath took from the case the first book , an interesting pamphlet written by Bro . E . V . Greatbatch , of the Menturia Lodge . The case in which the books were presented was made of polished oak , from a very handsome design of Bro . Geo . Bradford . After the Lodge was closed the quarterly supper took place . o o o

MISTLEY LODGE , No . 2339 . ON Thursday , 25 th ult ., the annual festival took place at the White Hart Hotel , Manningtree , when Bro . S . S . Parsons was installed . The ceremony was performed by Bro . J . R . Butler P . G . A . D . C . The brethren afterwards sat down to banquet . The W . M . paid a high tribute to the work done by the Installing Master during his year of office as W . M .

o o o DUKE OF FIFE LODGE , No . 2345 . fFIHE usual meeting was held on the 17 th , at the Alexandra _ 1 _ Hotel , Clapham Common , Bro . Beaven W . M .

Bro . Hambleton was elected a joining member . Apologies for absence were read from several brethren . After Masonic business was ended , the brethren adjourned to a very nice repast , and the usual toasts were honoured .

o o o HILBRE LODGE , No . 2375 . AT the annual meeting held at the Masonic Hall , Hoylake , Rev . A . Hamilton King , M . A ., was installed as W . M . The chair was occupied at the commencement of the proceedings by Bro . John Lee P . P . G . S . B ., the retiring Master , who was supported

by a large number of members of the Lodge , and a good attendance of visitors . Having been installed in the chair by Bro . Colonel C . S . Dean , the Rev . A . Hamilton King invested his Officers , and a dinner was subsequently held .

o o o HEDWORTH LODGE , No . 2418 . ON the 24 th ult ., the annual meeting took place in the Masonic Hall , Ingham Street , South Shields , when Bro . W . Dalziel

W . M . presided , and there was a large attendance of members and visitors . Bro . Chas . P . Bell was installed by Bro . W . E . Moffett P . M . Before the business of tho Lodge concluded , the new W . M .,

on behalf of the members , presented to Bro . Dalziel a handsome Past Master ' s jewel . The annual banquet was subsequently held in the Hall ; an excellent dinner was supplied by Bro , Hiltop , manager of the Freemasons' Club . o o 0
