served as Deputy G . Master of the Province ( Essex ) over which the Earl of Warwick Deputy Grand Master of England presided , and a more popular ruler and more agreeable man never lived . Selected by the King as his Deputy , Lord Warwick was a typical Mason , and he claimed for the
Grand Officers that they were wisely selected and worked well . Bro . Philbrick also proposed the health of the W . M ., reminding the Brethren that the Master was an Initiate of their Lodge , and had risen step by step to the proud position he now held . They as Masons adhered closely to the ancient landmarks of the Order , and elected a new Master every year .
Sir Augustus Webster , who has just been appointed Grand Master of the Flampshire Masons , is one of the cleverest amateur banjoists in the kingdom . Before he married and retired from the Guards , in order to look after
the family estates and Provincial Masonry in Hampshire , he was regarded m the brigade as a " cert" for any kind of entertainment whether got up for the amusement of the officers' friends or the charitable and benevolent funds of the Guards in general . He was one of the prime movers in
the famous Guards' burlesques of some ten years ago , and in company with Mr ., now Captain , Nugent took principal parts in singing , acting , dancing , and banjoing . ONE of the most widely known members of the English Craft , and a fellow worker with ourselves for many years past in the field of Masonic journalism , was called to his rest on Saturday last . Bro . George Kenning died suddenly
at his residence at Sydenham , at' the age of sixty-five . Our deceased Brother was the founder of the " Freemason " and the " Masonic Magazine , " and issued many other works in connection with Freemasonry , and his death will be greatly
regretted m many quarters . He was one of the leading members of the Lion and Lamb Lodge , and took a lively interest in many other Masonic bodies ; was a Past Provincial Officer of Middlesex , and a warm supporter oH all of the Masonic Charitable Institutions . We tender our
sympathy with the members of his family in their great bereavement . THE death took place at Newport , Mon ., on Sunday , at the age of 52 , of Bro . Richard Alexander Forsyth , rails inspector and engineer of the Indian States Railways , who
had twice been W . M . of the Isca Lodge , and was its Treasurer at the time of his death . Fie was P . Z . of the St . Woolos Chapter , was Scribe E . of the Provincial Grand Chapter , E .
