Essex.

ESSEX .

T , X 7 " E are informed that , owing to his removal into Sornerset-/ V shire , and his inability in consequence to keep in touch with Masonic work in the county , His Honour Judge Philbrick , Q . C . ( the Eecorder of Colchester ) , has resigned his Office of Deputy Provincial Grand Master of Essex , which he has held since December 1880 , and that the Earl of Warwick has appointed Oolonel Lockwood , M . P ., to the vacant post .

Much regret will be felt throughout the county at the announcement of Bro . Philbrick's resignation , as he has ever shown a great interest in the Order , and his genial manner has won for him the affection of all with whom he has been brought into contact . At the same time no more popular successor could

have been found than Col . Lockwood , who is a Past Master of two Lodges in the Province , and is a Past Grand Deacon of England . We understand that Col . Lockwood is to be installed into his office by the Earl of Warwick Provincial G . M . at the forthcoming meeting of the Provincial Grand Lodge , which is to be held at Brentwood , on the 26 th inst . —" Essex County Standard . "
