Provincial Grand Lodge Of Staffordshire.
Committee , from which it appeared that the subscriptions to the fund amounted to £ 170 , out of which £ 24 had been expended upon a presentation to the late Provincial Grand Secretary of a gold watch , leaving a balance of £ 146 . Ho stated that a meetinsr of the Investment
Committee had been held that morning to consider as to the disposal of the balance , and the Committee suggested that the money in hand should be invested in the names of Bros . Croydon , Barnett , and Woolley , for the assistance of
necessitous brethren or their widows in tho Province , while their claims upon the benevolent fund were under consideration . Bro . Bromley ( Hanley ) proposed , and Bro . Faram seconded a resolution in accordance with the
suggestion of the Committee . Bro . E . H . Croydon stated that the Sutherland Lodge of Unity had voted a sum of five guineas to the Cartwright Fund , and it was hoped that their example would be followed by other Lodges . Bro .
Greatbach suggested that as the Provincial Grand Lodge had a large fund in hand a sum of lOOgs . should be voted to fche Cartwright Memorial Fund , and moved that a grant bo made from the Provincial Grand Loclce fund to that
amount . Col . Gough pointed out thafc notice of motion would be requisite , and Bro . Greatbach accordingly gave notice of motion for the next Provincial Grand Lodge . There was no farther bnsiness , and the Lodge was closed
in the usual form . Subsequently a banquet was served in the Shire Hall by Bro . Bennett , of tho Vine Hotel , whose catering gave universal satisfaction . The usual Loyal and
Masonic toasts were honoured , and the proceedings were enlivened by the songs and glees of a quartette of Stafford vocalists .

Lodge . The occasion was also of more than ordinary interest to the Province ou account of the installation of Bro . the Hon . W . T . Orde-Powlett as Provincial Grand Master of North-East Yorkshire , in succession to Bro .

CONSECRATION OF THE ST . OSWALD LODGE , No . 387 .
ON 24 th ult . another forward step in Freemasonry was taken , in the establishment of a new Mark Masters' Lodge , afc Crowle , in the province of Lincolnshire . The Lodge is composed principally of members belonging to the Isle of Axholtne Craft Lodgo , No . 1-182 . The new Lodge is called after tho Northumbrian king and saint , St . Oswald , and is No . 337 on the roll of Grand Lodge . This will make
tho seventh Lodge in tha province . Tho founders of the Lodge are members of the John o'Gaunt Lod < -o , Gainsborough , viz ., Bros . Staniforth , Delanoy , Bruuyee , Forth , Liversidgo , and Wheeldon . It was thought wise to only have as the founders members of the province of Lincolnshire , as it is a Lincolnshire Lodge . The Lodge will
hold its meetings in the Craft Lodge . Tho consecration was ably performed by Bro . Satellite R . W . Prov . G . M . M . of Lincolnshire . The following brethren were present : —Bros . Bead W . was then proceeded with , the R . W . P . G . M . M . M . being assisted by the Provincial Officers , and corn , oil , wine , and salt were strewn and poured . Tho Lodge was then consecrated and dedicated . Bro . A . Bates , the D . P . G . M . M ., then installed Bro . Staniforth as the W . M . who next invested his Officers , as follow : —Bros . After the duties of the Lodge were over the brethren adjourned to the banqnet , which Mr . and Mrs . Chafer had provided in their long room . The room was very
nicely adorned with plants , evergreens , and flowers ; and the " spread " was all that could be desired . The R . W . P . G . M . M . M . resigned the place of honour to the W . M . Bro . Staniforth , and the vice-chair was occupied by Bro . Delanoy . The toast list was both Loyal and Masonic , and was gone through in good style , Bro . Roberts doing the
work of the D . C . in his usual excellent form . The speeches were interspersed by songs from several brethren , and one of the most en . joyable days may be chronicled in the diaries of the Crowle brethren as having been spent on 17 th May , the day of the Consecration of
the St . Oswald Lodge of Mark Masons , the success of which there can be doubt will be insured by the united action of the brethren , who ore all imbued with one idea—the progress of tho Institntion . The bells of St . Oswald ' s Church rang out merry peals at intervals .
