Lazarus seconded , that a sum of two guineas be given from the funds of the Chapter for the purpose of presenting the retiring Z . with a testimonial for his excellent work - ing , not only as M . E . Z ., but in every office he has filled . Comp . Lazarus proposed that honorary membership be accorded to Comp . Littaur , who had on three occasions filled the chair of M . E Z . This

was seconded by Comp . L . Lazarns , and the M . E . Z . supplemented their remarks by a suggestion that this compliment shonld be paid Comp . Littaur so that every privilege the Chapter could confer shonld be given , a record of this resolution to be inscribed on vellum , and presented to him by the Chapter as a birthday gift . Comp . Levy proposed , and Comp . Albert seconded , that a letter of condolence be

sent to Comp . Baum on a recent bereavement—the death of his respected father . The Chapter wns then closed until the last Monday in November , and the Companions sat down to a simple and richerchi banquet , provided by Comp . Jennings , and superintended by Comp . M . Silver . read and confirmed . Bro . Brasted offered himself aa candidate , and the ceremony of passing was rehearsed . Brother Manger answered the questions leading to the third degree , bat was not entrusted . Lodge was opened in the third , and the ceremony of raising waa rehearsed , with the traditional history , Bro . Lowe being the candidate . The W . M . worked the second section of the lecture , assisted by Bro . Gribbell . Lodge was resumed , and Bro . Liedman ,

of the Urban Lodge , No . 1196 , was unanimously elected a member . Bro . Gribbell waa elected W . M . for the ensuing fortnight . All Masonio business being ended , the Lodge waa closed in ancient form and adjourned to Saturday , the 2 nd of June , when the members of the Strong Man Lodge of Instruction will work the Fifteen Sections We trust that the brethren will master numerously , so as to give the Visitors a hearty reception .

Eboracum Lodge , No . 1611 . —An emergency meeting of this Lodge was held on Monday , the 21 st ult ., ab the Queen ' s Hotel , York , when there was a very large muster , upwards of forty brethren being present . The object of the meeting was the initiation into Masonry of the Lord Mayor of York ( Alderman Thomas Varry ) , who had been proposed in emergency by letter in view of the visit of the

Grand Master to York in July , when the foundation-stone of the new Institute will be laid by him with Masonio honours . The W . M . Bro . Millington presided , and was supported by P . M . 'a Bros . T . B . Whytehead , J . S . Cumberland , C . G . Padel , J . T . Seller , G . Simpson , George Balmford , J . Blenkin S . W ., and most of the other Officers . Several visiting brethren were also present from 236 , 1991 , and from

other parts of the Province . The ballot having been taken , the candidate waa introduced and duly initiated , Broa . T . B . Whytehead acting as W . M . and J . S . Cumberland as conducting Deacon , and also giving the Charge . After the close of Lodge , the brethren and their guests met at supper , after whioh the usual toast list waa duly

honoured . In reaponcling to the toast of his health the Lord Mayor said he was pleased to have become a member of an Order so ancient and of such high standing , and he should be very glad to place the Guildhall and Mansion House at the service of the Order on the occasion of the visit of the Grand Master . A most harmonious evening waa spent , enlivened by songs and glees .
