Walker , and Jordrell ; Bros . Levy , Ballard , Eutwistle , Reilly , Roscoe , Rowortb , Grocook , Todd , and Lisenden Tyler . The brethren met at six o ' clock for tea , after whioh the Lodge was opened in due form and the minutes of the June meeting were read and confirmed . The W . M . expressed hia sincere regret at the premature death of Brother Leach , a"ed 33 , who died after a long and painful illness . A letter

of condolence was ordered to be sent to Mrs . Leach by the Secretary . Bro . R . Williams , who has satisfactorily filled the somewhat unthankful but extremely valuable post of Organist , was appointed and invested J . D ., and Bro . Thorpe J . D . was invested S . Drin the place of the late Bro . Leach . There being no farther business the Lodge was closed .

r [ 1 HE installation meeting ot the above Lodge was held on Thursday , J . the 15 th ult ., at the Groat Eastern Hotel , Biahopgate , a largo number of members and visitors attending . Bro . Luker ably installed his successor , Bro . Wm . Forty S . W ., as Worshipful Master , the utmost enthusiasm being displayed in the ceremony . At the conclusion of the formalities the W . character . The nsual Masonic toasts were ably proposed from the chair by the W . M . and suitably acknowledged . Among tbo large numbers of visitors present were Bros . Gaskin , Cordell , Gordon , and Bunker . The entire proceedings were eminently successful .

Saunders Provincial Grand Registrar , Bro . Reeves P . P . G . A . D . C . acting as Director of Ceremonies . A large number of * the members of tho Lodge and other brethren and Past Maasters attended ,

After the business tho installation banquet was held at the Bear and Key Hotel , under the presidency of the nowly-eleoted Worshipful Master , supported by Past Masters of the Lodge and soveral distinguished visitors . The usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were duly honoured .

LENNOX BROWNE LODGE , No . 2318

r PHE installation meeting of this Lodge was held on Saturday , tho J- 24 th ult ., at the Roebuck , Buckhnrst Hill , when the netvly built Masonio Hall was opened for the first time . The building , whioh is entirely separate from the Hotel , has been erected by Bro . A . C . Smith , the proprietor , who has not belied the energy and spirit he has thrown into the management of the parent establishment by

the manner in which this work has been carried out . It has two principal halls , of similar size , and capable of holding a large number of guests , that on the first floor being intended for the Lodge room , that on the ground floor for banqueting . There is a commanding entrance ball and every accommodation in tbe shape of dressing

rooms , & c , special Masonic requirements . Dr . Ernest W . Dring P . G . Senior Deacon the W . M . presided , supported by a full attendance of Officers and lay members of the Lodge , and Visitors . Bro . Edward Purkeaa 453 waa elected a joining member , Brother George Thirling waa passed to the second degree , and Bro . W . S . Bunting

raised to the third degree , the latter ceremony and the installation of Bro . Lennox Browne as W . M . being ably performed by the outgoing Master . In the name ancl on behalf of the Lodge , Dr . Lennox Browne presented a handsome Past Master ' s jewel to Bro . Dring . The work of the Lodge waa succeeded by an exceedingly choice banquet , provided by Bro . A . C . Smith .

HORWICH LODGE , No . 2324

ON Thursday evening , the 15 tb ult ., this Lodge had the pleasure of presenting their late W . M ., Bro . D . G . H . Whitaker , with a splendid portrait of himself , encased in an elegantly mounted and costly frame . The presentation took plaoo at the Ridway Arms , Blaokrod , in the presence of a large number of the Fraternity , Bro . H . T . Thornton W . M . in the ohair . Bro . G . Rufua S . D ., on making the presentation on behalf of the brethren of the Lodge ,

spoke of the oourteons and gentlemanly bearing whioh Bro . Whitaker bad always ahown during his tenure of office , and whioh had always created a good feeling among the brethreu . After Bro . Whitaker had suitably responded , the company sat down to a banquet , served in really first class style by Mr . Chesters . Following the repast , the brethren spent the evening in a very enjoyable and harmonious manner , the proceedings terminating with a hearty and unanimous vote of thanks to the chairman for presiding .

ST . OSWIN LODGE , No . 2327

AT the regular monthly meeting held on Monday , the 19 th nit ., at the Masonio Hall , North Shields , Bro . Isaac Black W . M . presented the Lodge with a very handsome banner , whioh was designed and has been worked in silk by Mrs . Black as a gift to the members . The banner ia a groundwork of azure blue silk , with crimson scrolls , letters in gold , " St . Oswin Lodge , No . 2327 , North

Shields . " The centre is the borough Arms of Tynemoutb , three silver crowns , emblazoned on a crimson shield , surrounded by a coil and a wreath worked in gold , the whole being surmounted by a figure of St . Oswin in ecclesiastical robes . The blending of the colours is most harmonious , and the effect produced very pleasing .

It is a skilful piece of art needle work , and waa greatly admired by the assembled brethren , on whose behalf Bro . W . B . MoLearon I . P . M . P . P . G . S . B . accepted the gift in most appropriate terms , a committee of the brethren being appointed to convey the thamks of the Lodge to Mrs . Black .
