Provincial Grand Lodge Of Cornwall.

400 girls' and 500 boys' votes , total 900 ; ancl are owed 80 boys , 242 old Masons , and 744 widows' votes , total 1 , 000 . The present voting power possessed by the Province I

estimate to be about 300 girls , 350 boys , 450 widows , and 350 old men . This Province is at present receiving from the Central Charities annuities to four old men and

five widows , amounting to £ 320 , and we have two boys in tho Royal Masonic Institution for Boys , and two girls in the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls , altogether a grant from about £ 480 to £ 500 per year . Tbo Relief

Committee nt its last meeting adopted four candidates as deserving cases , and to be polled for certain as our votes may allow . I purpose naming the first case iu October . J regret to have to complain of many cases of unnecessary

delay in forwarding the voting papers to me , and I shall feel extremely obliged if the brethren will for tho future sign and send them to me promptly after receiving them . I would suggest that every Lodge appoint a brother

as Charity Steward to attend to the collection of all papers in bis Lodge and send them to me . Some Lodges do this , and it greatly facilitates my work . As Steward representing this Province this year , I beg to report that I

collected for the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution £ 43 ls , for tbe Institution for Girls £ 134 4 s , and for Boys £ 70 13 s , a total of £ 249 17 s . Bro . Truseott further reported that the Province had got ten candidates in seven

years on the Funds of the great Masonic Charities , from which they derived a great amount of benefit , and which deserved all the support they could g ive them . The Provincial Grand Secretary reported that a brother of

Restormel Lodge , No . 850 , had been elected an annuitant on the Cornwall Masonic Anuuity and Benevolent Fund with 441 votes , a brother of Lodgo Fortitude , No . 131 , having only 275 votes . The widow of a brother of Lodge

Love ancl Honour , No . 75 , got on tho Fund with 383 against 244 recorded for the widow of a brother of Lodgo Three Grand Princi ples , No . 967 . The son of a deceased brother of One and All Lodge , No . 330 , with 644 votes , is

entitled to an educational grant of £ 15 for three years . In making the last announcement , Bro . Chirgwin said he wished the brethren generally , and especially those who acted as guardians to children on the Fund , to

understand thafc the grants wero for fche education of the children elected , aud nob for the general purposes of the family . It was the duty of the brethren to seo that the money was properly expended . The Prov . G . Master thought it was

important thafc ifc should be known that tho grants given were for the education of the children to whom awarded , and not for tbe benefitof the family generally . He therefore moved that it be an instruction to the special Committee

appointed to inquire if fche educational grants are properly expended . Bro . Bake seconded the motion , which was agreed to . On the motion of Bro . Anderton £ 10 was voted to the unsuccessful female candidate for

the am uit yfund . The Officers of the Cornwall Masonic Annuity and Benevolent Fund wero re-elected , with Bros . Anderton , Milford , and Chirgwin added to the trustees . It was agreed after a slight discussion to grant , on the

motion ot tbe Provincial Grand Secretary , fifty guineas to the Cornwall Masonic Annuity Fund . It was then asked what the Province proposed to vote to the great Masonic Charities . Bro . Anderton thought if they were

going to adopt a now scheme with regard to their charitable fund , they should keep tho balance in hand . Bro . Truseott having remarked that the Province would be receiving nearly £ 500 this year from tho great Masonic

Chanties , moved that thirty guineas be given to each of the Institutions—the Benevolent Fund , and Boys' aud Girls' Schools . Bro . Bake moved , as an amendment , that no money be voted until after tho committee appointed to

consider the question of the Charity funds had presented a report . Bro . Pearce said tho proposal of Bro . Bake would considerabl y damage their charity organisation , afc any rate for the present . They were deriving a vary

great benefit from the great Masonic Charities . They had nine annuitants , and were receiviug £ 320 per year iu cash . Bio . Bake ' s amendment not being seconded , a fact which was received with applause , it was , after further

discussion , decided to give twenty guineas each to the Boys' School and Benevolent Fund , and ten guineas to the Girls' School . The P . G . M . then invested the following brethren as his Officers for the year ensuing : —

Bro . Sir C . B . Graves-Sawle , Bart . - Deputy Grand Master G . P . A . Glencross P . M . 510 . Senior Warden Hugh P . Vivian P . M . 589 Junior Warden

educational grant from fourteen to fifteen . Bro . Binckes , returning thanks on behalf of the Charities , appealed for help for tbe Boys' School , the Festival of which only produced £ 8 , 600 . They were sadly in want of funds , and

there were seventy-six candidates for election in October , but they could only elect twenty-three . He congratulated the Province on the great interest it had always felt in the Masonic Institutions , and he hoped no jealousy would be

felt in supporting either of the Charities . Invitations were received from Looe , Liskeard , and Truro for the next Provincial Grand Lodge . The Provincial Grand Master said it was the rule to meet alternatel y in the eastern and

western divisions of the county , and as Truro was in the western division he could not think of Truro next year . A new Lodge had been proposed for Camelfordbya worthy Mason , to whom Masonry owed a great deal in Cornwall

and elsewhere , but he ( the Provincial Graud Master ) must postpone the consideration until he was assured that it was a centre where a Lodge was likely to bo permanently worked . The Grancl Lodge having been closed , the brethren sat down to luncheon at the Assembl y Booms .
