Drury Lane . —After a run almost , if not quite , unprecedented , as regiirds success , tho last weeks of fche pantomime here aro announced , Mr . Augustus Harris being compelled to this decision in consequence uf the arrangements undo for a season of English opera by tho Carl Rosa Company . It is a well-recognised axiom with onr good brother tho Gr . iud Treasurer elect that what is worth doing at
all should be done well , aud in placing his pantomime before his patrons this year he determined—despite tho exceptionally strong counter attractions of the season—that no outlay or effort on his part should ba wanting . As a result the season now drawing to a close has been a most gratifying one , and we cordially recommend those of our readers who have not yet seen " Jack and the
Beaustalk " to loso no time iu securing their seats . The established favourites at Old Drury have this year been supplemented by some of the beat pnntoniimists tho country can prorlnce , while the processions , which have become so characteristic a feature of Mr . Harris ' s management , aro even more gorgeous than any yet seen . Mr . George Conquest Jan ., aa tho Giant Gorgibuster , makes pleasant acquaintance
with the youngsters , and ifc is a source of gratification eveu to old stager ? , to hear their shouts of merriment . In tho Shakespearian procession no less than twenty-one of the immortal bard ' s plays aro adequately represented ; while thafc of tho Gods and Goddesses presents a scene of magnificence and splendour that will long be fixed on the memory of those who may witness ifc .
We understand it is in contemplation to invite the Provincial Grand Lodgo of Kent to hold its approaching annual festival , in June next , at Chatham . Tho subject was considered at the Royal Kent Lodgo of Antiquity , No . 20 , on Wednesday the 19 th ult ., and it was ultimately
decided to leave the contemplated invitation in the hands of a committee to consider ancl report thereon . It is seventeen years since the Provincial Grand Lodge of Kent held its annual festival nt Chatham , in which town the Proviu-Grand Lodge assembled in 1873 .
